Gotta love the Dallas Morning News rankings....Arlington Martin ranked #1 in 5A state coaches poll but only #2 in the DFW area poll...go figure.
How is it that Corsicana loses 2 district games last week and falls 2 spots? And the teams that they lose to are not ranked??
Once again it's nice that 9-4A and 10-4A have to play each other in the first round. That's 5 of the top 10 area 4A schools.
And I guess bad losses (e.g., The Colony and Liberty) far outweigh good wins (Boyd, Marcus, and Sachse) and tough losses (Arlington Martin, Plano and Wakeland x2).

Yeah, I feel your pain. 7 5a and 8 5a get to beat each other up.
I hear ya Clemson! I think all the 10-4A/9-4A matchups will be tough next week, except maybe Heath/Frisco Liberty. Very curious to see who plays 1 game series VS 2 of 3. BTW, these DMN rankings mean zero a week from today!

Liberty vs Frisco tomorrow. Winner is "in"

Look at the glass half full.....There will be 4 of the strongest teams around representing your 7/8-5A districts. Your districts have had solid teams to play against all year to help get the players prepared for playoffs. Hard work and great competition makes these Young Men better. Consider them to be fortunate.

There's another way to look at it...in the second round there should be 8 of the strongest teams still alive but instead there will only be 4.
Making 7-5A & 8-5A square off in the first round is a big break for everybody else.
Thanks but it does not give me great comfort. It is unfotunate to some extent that arguably the two best districts (7 5a and 8 5a) in the state (and that includes 4a teams) will get to do what the sec teams do in football which is beat each other up and let lesser teams get to the championship. Does ohio state out of the big ten ring a bell.
So how many from District 7/8 - 5A do you think will be left after round 2 of the Playoffs?
It's Baseball, anything can happen. Especially with one game series in play.
But, I think there will still be 4 teams from 7/8 5a left after round 2.
JMHO

...I think you will be much closer if you cut that number in half....Good districts yes....but not as good as some of the top teams from District 5/6....I see 2 from 5/6 and 2 from 7/8

Um...there will be exactly 4 left. I'd put money on it.

One million dollars! You looked at the bracket yet?
I'll stick with my prediction that 4 from those two districts will be left after round 2.
Go ahead and bet your million bucks though. Hope you don't lose it

Ahhhhhh. You may be right there agdad. Slight reading miscue. Ummmmmmm, bet retracted?
Well...Loosing a Million would not be good on either of our parts....But I would not mind wagering a nice Cold Drink or 2........I think that 7/8 is deeper than 5/6 but not going to shut 5/6 out...

Well, it appears my prediction will come up short.
Only 3 left from 7-5A and 8-5A.
Plano East advances over Colleyville Heritage
Southlake advances over Grapevine
Flower Mound advances over Mansfield
Appears LD Bell took care of Plano.
There's your "it's baseball" and anything can happen. Especially with one game, winner takes all games.
