Hello all,
I have been hired to a JuCo in Texas as an assistant and recruiting coordinator.
Since I have always wanted to do this job and feel that I need to be the best as humanly possible, what are some great tips to be a successful recruiting coordinator?
Simple. Recruit all HSBBW family kids.
Congratulations, Coach!
I haven't been in your shoes but I think what all players and parents would appreciate and what would pay off in the long run for your program and career would be if you were genuinely honest, enthusiastic and took the time to really get to know the kids you are recruiting. Then, connect the dots. Take what you've learned about the particular player and figure out how to turn that into points of motivation for him to consider your school. Oh... and be accountable.
When the local JC coach started showing up at our HS games and taking time to talk to the coaches and some of the kids, this created a lot of positive synergy and netted the JC some good players who otherwise would not have gone that route. Really know your home turf. It blows me away when local JC RC's don't have a keen awareness of the players in their back yards.
Then, execute. Help your players be the best they can be every day.
