And, as for Michael Vick, if you took his running ability away from him he wouldn't be an NFL quarterback.

Couldn't you take a skill away from every NFL QB, making them sub-par at their position? Or any NFL player at any position?

Vick's speed and playmaking ability is what makes him great, just like Peyton's ability to read defenses. Who's to say one skill is more valuable than the other? Micheal Vick may not be the best passer but his ability to make defenders miss in the backfield should stand for something.

As far as Vince Young, he is already a better passer than Vick ever was in college, and has that unique playmaking ability outside the pocket and when he decides to tuck and run.

He may succeed in the NFL, he may bomb, but there have been many "can't miss" college players that have bombed as well. ie. Ryan Leak and Akili Smith.

I think that Vince Young will not be a studly pro like everyone makes him out to be. The Longhorns run a zone-read type offense and he will need to learn how to be a dropback passer. Right now, he is virtually a shotgun QB. There is no offense in the NFL that is run like Texas. The best thing for him is to come back to Texas, learn passing skills and be the man on campus. Just look at how much he has improved in the past year and these results will probably happen again. Then when he makes it to the pros and he doesnt have the outstanding passing ability everyone wants, sit him a year ala Carson Palmer or Culpepper. Just my thoughts.

Linear - who died and elected you "NFL expert extraordinaire?"

In case you missed it, Vince Young did it this year with his passing arm - not his legs.

Vince finished the season as the #1 rated passer in the nation, with a Quarterback Rating of 168.6.

And yet, you and the other neanderthals still insist he won't make it in the NFL. He will make some NFL team very happy.

Now that demonstrates a nice sized Texas ego.
A demonstration of the USC bias... all the announcers at the Heisman ceremony referring to USC's chance to win a "third consecutive national championship." I am no LSU fan, but if memory serves, they hold the trophy for national champions from two years ago. How come no one questions USC claiming a title they did not win?
first of all, to answer Natural's question above. USC won the AP national title and LSU won the BCS title- there is no NCAA national title in Div 1A football. the AP is no more official than the BCS, they are all essentially media awards- so if you'd like to start your own title.

SC's potential claim to fame is that no team has ever won 3 AP titles in a row. To reiterate, SC won the AP title in '03, the AP and BCS for '04 and for '05 well...... SC is as good as I have seen and Texas ain't seen nothin' like 'em. That's what pretty much destroyed OU last year, Michigan the year before, etc. SC's team speed on both sides of the ball is amazing and Bush is not their only weapon. You have White, Leinart and an excellent receiving corps and OL. The defense has been a bit maligned, but improving and with a month to prepare there is NO ONE better than Coach Carroll.

As far as Reggie Bush, the guy is just ridiculous. Absent injury, his talent will place him with the likes of Sayers, Brown, Sanders, Simpson before he's done. I've seen every one of Bush's college games, saw Simpson, Marcus Allen, Charles White, Ricky Bell, Anthony Davis, etc. etc. Bush is the real deal and Texas will go the way of the Sooners.

More wisdom from Linear
What does that say about their passing ability?

What is the foremost skill of a good NFL quarterback?

Therefore, neither will ever be.
