You will sometimes see complaints that our state's flagship (ACC) programs don't always recruit in state, and that so many of their players come from all over the country. Well, such is life in the ACC, one of the top baseball conferences in the nation.
But this week painted a different picture up in Charlottesville. It's a 5-game week, and 4 of those games either have been or will be started by Richmond-area pitchers!
Tuesday, Chesdin Harrington (Patrick Henry 2015), who has become a mainstay of the bullpen and is having a terrific sophomore campaign, got the spot start in a "staff game" due to there being 5 games this week.
Wednesday, Daniel Lynch (Douglas Freeman 2015) started and got the W with 6 strong innings against George Washington.
Tonight, Derek Casey (Hanover 2012) gets his first Friday night start against ACC rival Pitt.
Tomorrow, Noah Murdock (Colonial Heights 2016) gets his second ACC start, after excelling in his debut against # 2-ranked Louisville last Friday.
Hope that makes everyone happy!
It sure makes our program proud, as Harrington, Casey and Murdock were all recruited to UVA from the Virginia Cardinals. (Also from the Cardinals, Cayman Richardson, Hanover 2016, has enjoyed several starts at SS this spring!)
