22and25 is right, but beyond that most obvious of reasons it’s a bigger deal in other ways too. Big state school vs private. Aggies have much larger alumni base and is recognized as a better academic institution than TCU. A&M baseball has been relevant longer, but TCU has been more relevant lately. Nothing at all wrong with TCU, but in California terms I would say it’s like comparing Pepperdine (w/o the setting) to UCLA.

The only upside I see for a coach is that it’s easier to recruit to a school that is in state 13k and out of state 38k vs 70k at TCU. Schlossnagle has complained before about how he can give a 50% scholarship and a kid is still paying way more than another school giving them 25%. That said he says he is staying. Fort Worth is a nice city and good sized vs. College Station but it’s all what you’re looking for.

A&M is 31k in state and 60k for out of state.  A&M is not known for a lot of merit money.  The average aid package at TCU is 28k.  A&M recruits almost exclusively in state while TCU adds about 1/3 of their roster from out of state players.  The above is a big reason for that.   

Ok, when I googled it 13K popped up but on the site, I do see it is 31K.   But if you get the minimum 25%, at one school you are out of pocket 23K and the other you are out of pocket 52K...I would think that has some effect on recruiting.

Seems like they had 9 transfers, did they produce?

I wonder if Rice would give former Owl, Lance Berkman a chance. He is on track to be a D1 coach his alma mater may make sense

I dont think it has anything to do with who is the HC. But rather the yearly tuition. I may be wrong, do they give Vandy or Miami type of scholarships?

CUSA had a banner year for some programs. They also had a pretty weird conference set up and had to get through Charlotte, Southern Miss, Old Dominion, and La Tech. The top conference teams.

Rice has a huge endowment and offers a lot of financial aid in many different ways. They also offer tuition waivers/discounts based on family income. Rice recruited my son and it got far enough along that we did a financial analysis. They never offered but if they would have (and it was accepted) the cost of attendance would have been around 20K per year.

Who were you hoping for?  I don't know much about Schlos outside of one former player who hates his guts but that's a small sample size.

Heefner wouldn’t work at TCU. He has extremely rigid rules for players outside of baseball. Even the kids that are 21 don’t drink. I’m not saying that is bad, I’m just saying that flies at DBU, but would be very tough at TCU... especially when a lot of the players are men. Players want Saarloos or Mosiello.

Some very strange hires today by ASU and Rice.  Has the former MLB coach with no college experience worked?

FIU hired Jeff Conine as assistant.  Haven't figured that out yet.

I'm gobsmacked by both hires. This feels like ASU took the cheap way out. As a Golden Bear, I'm not displeased.

You could change the word “one” to “almost any”.  It would still be accurate and you have a much larger sample size.

TCU announces Kirk Saarloos as new HC. Not sure about Mo, but this is a good move by the Frogs. Things just got better in Ft Worth. I would expect the program to get better.

Star-Telegram reporting Mo will stay with TCU, didn't say in what capacity or job title, but I am sure to run the offense at a minimum.

I saw that but I have a hard time buying it.

That surprises me but that’s good for TCU

Was bracing to lose Mo and Dechant. Still haven’t heard on Dechant.  I think the morale is already improved.  A lot of guys had said last year was their last and now they are returning.
