Is it OK to solicitate donations from sporting goods stores to sponsor a individual to attend far away tournaments? Does anyone do it?

Can it be written off as a charitable contribution? Does the player have to claim any money's received to the IRS?

Usually the donations or contributions would be made to the team in the name of the player.

Depending on the laws of your state, these donations may be tax deductible if the team organization is properly authorized.

Donations are usually allowable to off-set the cost of baseball operations.

Travel and meal expenses are the responsibility of each player and are in addition to the player fee.
