Don't know exactly what you are looking for, but I thought Moneyball was a great book on several levels. Interesting topic, a great story, and a fascinating look at how one team uses data to gain an 'edge' in a highly competitive industry.

I hesitate to mention the cringe-making name, but Tim McCarver's "Baseball For Brain Surgeons and Other Fans" has a great deal of practical information for all positions.
Of course, there's "The Mental Game of Baseball; A Guide To Peak Performance" --- by Dorfman, I believe. Required reading.

I remember in high school reading two books which had nothing to do with 'skills' but everything to do with the history and glory and great old characters of this great game, and having a deeper appreciation for th egame simply made me play harder and better:

Louisville slugger puts out a great series of books for each position. I bought "All You Need To Know About Pitching" years ago and used it extensively. Great graphics and anecdotes.
I also use "The Pitcher's Edge" ny Tom House and Nolan Ryan. Anyone who trows a ball should read this book.

Maybe it's just me but I have a hard time buying a book about pitching from a company that's bread and butter is selling bats!

I had the same thoughts before I bought it.
But once I started reading it I was impressed with how a Bat Company produced such an excellent book on pitching instruction.
In my eyes it is one of the best books out there for instructional use.
I read their Hitting book and wasn't as impressed, but then again I am a pitcher

Hey Doc I have read many of those books and they are all good.
Louisville is a book that gives the best overall pitching instruction. Looks at it from several points of view. It lays out meal plan for starters ,closers etc. Lays out conditioning and discussion on all aspects of the game. Great annecdotes. It was well written and the many step by step illustrations are excellent.

The Baseball Coaches Bible, put out by the Coaches Association, is the best overall book I've ever seen for baseball. It contains input from the greatest collegiate baseball coaches of all time, and most of them are commenting on their particular areas of expertise. Fantastic read - I've read it probably 5 times!
I'm a pitcher and I'm looking on how to keep myself controlled accuracy wise. I'm real good at keeping calm on the outside but on the inside I feel like I'm ready to explode and accuracy tends to fall off a little bit. Or as a batter I'd like to be able to select my pitchers better and recognize when to pull or put the ball to the other side. Hopefully that helps.

These will help you Mentally get a hold on the inner half of the plate.
Along with Coaching Pitchers by Joe "Spanky" McFarlane will help you with some drills, same with The Lousiville Sluggers All You Need To Know About Pitching.
Thsi won't help you, but I thought about this a while ago. If you are a regular vistitor on this site, we really read a lot. The time kinda flies when you're on here, but it is spent reading. Just thought I'd put that in there.
TPB35 - Mind Gym, The Athlete's Guide to Inner Excellence, by Gary Mack, is a great resourse to help the 'head game' of baseball. My son found it a tough read, but I thought it was a great resource into the mental side of any sport -- particularly baseball.
