Its been brutal to watch my team play this year. As I predicted for this WC swing ... 2-4, 3-3 at best. If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, its a duck. And the Sox have been quackin all year long.
4-32 from your 3,4,5 hitters will do it to you.
Ozzie had a ton of luck last season. No such "magic" this year.
No such repeat this year, Ozzie. You showed, in this series; and, with the nonsense in your outfield, that you don't know any more than the typical fan.
We could screw it up just as you have done.
Congrats to Big Frank. A White Sox Hall of Famer who was mistreated by Ozzie and Kenny last year. On the biggest stage in the biggest games of the year against the Sox, he BURIED them! Simple as that.
On to next year. Goodbye to Pods and Anderson and three of the hamburgers in the bullpen. Trade McCarthy for a Snickers bar. Need a backup catcher, too. Widger and Sandy hit a combined -365!

this is the kind of stuff I love
last year ozzie was a genius...now everybody wants his head on a platter!
There has been a lot of press about Frank Thomas lately....only a few articles state the truth...that no matter what, his time in Chicago was over there was just to much bad blood. Yeah he is a HOF and the best hitter in CWS history..but he did cause problems in the clubhouse and he was very selfish. Maybe looking back he realized that and it rejuvinated him. Thome was less of a risk because at least you didnt have to worry about some of the things that thomas had done in the past

Bill...Reality is setting in. The honeymoon is over.
Ozzie is just like the rest of us with a bigger bank account.
Realized that he only has a 6th grade education while watching his "mini-series".
Now I understand some of his baseball "decisions". He doesn't know any better.
Simple as that.
Nothing wrong with it. Just "get 'em next year".
What has happened to the pitching from the big guys? Cooper, too, was genius last year. This year, his pitchers can't get off of the 5.00 to 6.00 era level.

Just when you think you know what will happen....you don't.
Nothing short of a sweep this week will suffice.
Mackowiak's brutal play friday night set the tone. That and the decision to pitch to Frank yesterday cost us 2 games and probably the playoff's.
But....never say die.

sox...I agree with you.
Mac is a nice utility guy, but he's not a centerfielder in the majors.
Agree with walking Frank, too.
Wait 'til next year.

quote:For starters, as a person and a player Jim Thome is one of my all time favorites. Here are a couple of thoughts as it pertains to the White Sox:
a) WHY?
b) I thought the White Sox transformed themselves last year from an Earl Weaver wait for the three run homerun team to a pitching/ defense/ more of a small ball type team. Not that they did not have guys who couldn't take you deep however. The results speak for themselves.
c) I think Jim Thome is damaged goods.
d) If he is healthy, does this really mean the Sox think they are going to lose Konerko? I just don't see the need for both and at the type of payroll it adds.
Everyone is saying Kenny Williams is a genius, but this one looks really dumb to me unless it is being done as protection for losing Konerko and then it is still quite risky due to Thome's health.
Just so no one thinks I am a monday morning quarterback, I posted the above in here on November 25, 2005 when they made the trade for Thome. I thought it was a dumb move then and you guys are reaffirming it now.
The sox were basically a small ball team last year and that is why they had some success for the first time in 100 years. The pitching obviously took a step back this year. Where is El Duque when you need him?
Hey, a one year dynasty ain't so bad. The last Tribe series win came in 1948 which was unfortunately 12 years before I was born
Obviously, this thing ain't over though. Detroit is playing scared right now.
The Thome move, imo, was the right one at the time. There was no way to tell if he'd get a bad back and a hamstring in the 2nd half.
Unfortunately the newspaper writers and Frank's inability to stay quiet ran him out of town.
This would never have happened 30 years ago.
Way too many people put substance in what these creeps write in thier daily blog. The fact is that no player ever griped about Frank. Frank simply griped too much for mgmt. and the sportswriters. This resulted in thousands of words that no self respecting writer would have written in the 70's, let alone prior to that.
Men have become soap opera junkies with the constant BS available through the papers and talk radio. Fellows like Konerko and Thome can deal with it. Fellows like Frank and Ozzie can't.
IMHO, Babe Ruth wouldn't last long in today's PC BS media frenzy.

SOXNOLE
Not for nothing but Thome came in with a bad back---perhaps from carrying that big check
