Woody, what can be said other than wow, what a post.

You truly have some writing skills, seriously.

One of my fondest baseball memories was coming to college in Illinois from NY and watching the southside hit men of 1977 make their run. Literally I had never seen anything like that team nor will baseball ever see anything like them again. Bill Veeck, the uniforms, Gamble, Zisk and company. What a show for a kid from NY who was use to watching the button down Yanks.
Nice to click on the NECBL site and find fanofgame's son, Matt, listed on the Eastern Division Roster for the All Star Game being held on July 27, 2011.
Matt appears to be having a terrific wood bat league season.
In addition to playing home games before about 2,500 per game in beautiful and quaint Cardines field, he was selected to the league All Star team which played Team USA in Fenway, then he went back to Newport and competed with the Gulls in a game against Team USA, and obviously is performing very well by his All Star game selection.
Top notch Summer Wood Bat league organizations can provide an amazing experience to supplement what happens for 8-9 months of the year in college.
Jamie loses his 2nd game in summer ball, Semi Pro...close game for 5 innings

both pitchers pitching no-hitter going into 6th inning, Jamie got tapped for

two runs, gave up 3 hits in 6 innings, 8 K's...season over, 1st place, now

going into playoffs next week. In my opinion he's getting tired, has been

pitching organized ball since Feb., going for much needed rest down to

Outer Banks, (loves surfing)...for this year he's 9 and 1, college and 6 and

2, Summer ball, 15 and 3 is not to shabby! Will keep you posted on playoffs!

Jamie's 1st HR this summer

2nd loss

It is that that I find the most interesting, fascinating and amazing in your sons stories…great stories of perseverance…overcoming the odds…beating the system so clearly numerically stacked against them. There is no better place for celebrating the journey, the lessons, and the humanity…not simply the statistics. .

I missed this, good stuff.
Jamie back from vacation, pitched a great game in Playoff's, his team was 1 & 2 in 5 game playoff, his team evened it up at 2 & 2 last night, wins game 3 to 2 with 13 K's...
Box score

Well, they lost their deciding game in the 8th inning, with 2 walks...season over...now Jamie's going on a llloonnggg vacation...he finished up his year with two teams, 16 W's, 3 L's...now working out with physical coach and will get ready for his Soph year...next summer he and parents want to go to Cape Cod summer league...any pro's or con's on that?

Have a Great Day!

This was a very special summer of baseball. My oldest grandson (2 1/2) sat mesmerized in his little folding chair, watching his uncle, my 16 year old son, play baseball. What a thrill it was for me to begin the education process with the next generation at my son's Legion games.

I also got to watch my son pitch the big plastic baseball to my grandson, teaching him to hit it with the big plastic bat.

It was the best summer, ever.
