Hey Cade, You will know who I am within the next few sentences. You played with my son and his little brother is a Dallas Tiger: I rest my case!! Hey, who cares who Train IS???????? He obviously is a person who hides behind is identity and chooses not to reveal himself. In some posts he is OK and then in some he is way off base so, WHO knows who he is. Meanwhile if he does no have enough GUTS to come forward the shame is on him!!!!!!!!!!!

That's unfortunate. I always hoped for the DBAT teams to win or lose with class and dignity. Sure hope this is only an opinion of one.

Hey, at least no one pulled a base out of the ground and tried to throw it 50 feet! Big Grin
crawdad -- we haven't always agreed on the discussions here, but I want to commend you for your level-headed approach to this past HS season and your positive contributions concerning the summer. I don't know your son, but I have a feeling he is a class act.

To be honest, I admire many of the DFW baseball organizations -- Tigers, Mustangs, Marshals, Blackhawks, and others. It may be fairly obvious that we are associated with DBAT.

I don't want to speak for anyone else, but IMO this 18U Tiger/DBAT "thing" surpassed ridiculous several weeks ago. I imagine those in other states get a chuckle when reading it -- the only thing missing is the humor. These two rosters include many of the best players in the state --- I would be happy with a simple recap of the games between them. I can get the behind-the-scenes dramatics from the bystanders.

Both of these teams are highly respected -- too bad the "feud" (or whatever the word) has grown tiresome. I think it's safe to assume that those watching from the outside are not influenced by moms or dads or brothers or others that feel the need to remind us of how good they are....

JMO (worth little!) Smile
Calm down DBAT GM....I was not to excited to see the hoopla/incident at the Northwod game. Thought your parents could not stop yelling at everyone that day. Nothing more.

So Sorry if you read more into it. Cade/DBAT does run a good program.

I know....I will refrain from comments until the rest of our season is up in Farmington.

Isn't that usually the case?! Kids just want to play the game, but most of the time, parents get in the way!!

Too many egos trying to live out their past through their kids. It's a shame in more ways than one.

And sometimes it's not only the parents that are in the same boat. Wink
Rumor has it, the feuding in here is actually instigated by another teams parents trying for bulletin board material and that it has nothing to do with Tiger faithful.

I hear it is a plot by the DBat association to discredit the Tigers and tear apart a team that is in total disarray due to these comments.

This could be what crawdad was talking about, "The end of the Tigers".

Forget about Regional and by all means forget about Farmington. The Tigers may not make it through the week with all the turmoil surrounding the team.

Of course that is just something I heard from a reliable source.

Ok now I have heard it all!

Speak for me, please! I, for one, am extremely tired of hearing about the Tigers and DBAT. This banter of sorts has lowered both organizations. The Tigers and DBAT represent a very small percentage of the good (make that great) ball players in the D/FW area.

Panther Dad... maybe we should start a separate Texas sub-forum entitled "DBAT and Tigers".
I've played baseball for a long time. Last time I checked 9 players are on the field with 1 batter from the other team. 1 ball is used that starts with the pitcher throwing it.

OK, to shorten this up. This sounds chaotic and I don't even know what half of you are talking about. So I'm trying to blow it off and go back to the basics.
We were on a roll. Lemme give you a brief summary of the events on Saturday.

Noon-coach is in hospital due to a kidney stone

3:00 coach shows up to game.

3:30 the game starts fine with Lewis pitching but he's on a tight string with the pitch count. In the 3rd inning the bases get loaded with 2 bloop hits and a walk. Hainsfurther comes in and walks the next batter, 1-0. Ground ball to first, 1 out, back pick to third, hits off the runner into left field 2-0. They ended up scoring 2 more both on walk ins. It was very frustrating. That's how we lost the first one. If u dare hear about the second, PM me... it's a... fragile topic that I'd like to save everyone from reading.

As for the East Cobb Astros: They are amazing, simple. 23 kids on the roster, I think I was told 12 position players, rest pitchers. 1-3 hitters all outfielders, all fast, all left handed and in order go from 5 10, 6 2, to 6 6. It's a different kind of baseball, one that in all honesty, I'm glad I'm not apart of. The TEAM is great. But there is so much bickering from parents wanting little johny to play. As a pitcher only, if you have no chance of throwing that day, you don't suit up, you just wear your EC Astros athletic shorts and shirt and do pitching drills the whole time. The drills part I do like. I truly believe the Tigers had the best chance. I personally was going to pitch that game and felt I had a legitimate chance at slowing down the beast. Looking back on the tournament and how that team is run, it's a simple question, would you rather win a PG BCS Final and every other tournament your in, or do you want to develop as a player. Obviously the every day players do, but so many kids miss out. I personally wish we could've stolen a couple of their 23 to add to our 11.

Kyle,

We saw the Astros play at the 17U event in East Cobb -- and they are indeed a team of amazing athletes. They lost in 9 innings to the best Norcal team --- who were supposed to have 21 D1 commitments by July 7th. I was told (by someone on the PG staff) that the 6'6" kid would be a millionaire someday -- he just finished his sophomore year! I watched him have a lengthy conversation with the Clemson head coach -- he is a poised kid -------- must have been "off the record" since they are not supposed to talk until next summer. Wink

Congratulations on a nice run in Florida -- I noticed that your roster was small. Did you really take a 7th grader???? Smile

What remains for the Tigers this summer?

Take care,

-PD
Dtiger,

I can't imagine being a part of a team with 23 prima-donna's. And the parents.........NO THANKS! Sounds like you guys gave them a pretty solid run and a good showing!! At 16 years old, it shouldn't be about winning at all costs. I want my son to develop as a player much more than I want him on a team that's just out to win trophy's.

I saw the EC Astro's 16's in New Orleans last year at the Jr. Olympics and if you didn't know it was a 16 year old tourney, you would've swore they were a college team there working out. UNREAL!

So what's left for you guys this summer. Will you be trying to make it to the MMWS in McKinney?
PD-the 2012 grad kid is Chris Lewis' brother who was braught in for running purposes.

I neglected to mention Mike Ritter severly hurt his right ankle in the game against Team Ct. The bruising extended from above his ankle bone to his toes. Being the kid he is, he played every single game after that right behind the plate. I must say he is without a doubt the best overal catcher I've ever had the pleasure of working with. This is when you take into effect his attitude and dedication.

This year is not "over" for us but is winding to a quick hault. We (for some reason) are not going to go the AABC route, but rather the Premier in College Station. We are off this whole week because of the past tournament and a bunch of kids are participating in a showcase down in Waco I'm sure your familiar with.

I don't know if ya'll realized but our rost was shortened to 10 after a pitcher only had surgery and 4 kids quit due to lack of playing time. The reasons for that are private. We brought a guest player to Florida that I go to school with. We got an awful amount of weird looks when they saw 11 players. It's unfortunate because Mike was never the same after his injury (of course he did light up the East Cobb Titans in the next game after his injury) and our pitching was stretched thin. We would've been fine if we had won every game up to the championship, but the second we lost, we were done. Trey Frazier also was planning on leaving Sunday morning. Having said this and probably making way too many excuses, we beat ourselves in this tournament. It is not acceptable to come out flat in bracket play games as we did. A few bad calls and we were out of it. Fatigue, frustration, bad luck all rammed themselves into us at once and we weren't hard nosed enough to fight back. Having said that, this season has been a great year, even with the 2 past losses we are 29-4 in our last 33 games. I look forward to hearing the success you DBAT-ers and Rope-rs (haha) have later this season.
AHHH I have a good idea.

We always read about the obvious suspects on this site (well normally). But every team has those 1 or 2, maybe even three studs. The kids that put the team over the top, IMO, are the kids that often go unnoticed.

Looking towards the end of this summer season, who are some of the "unusual suspects" that will be leading their team to victory at the 17 and 18 levels in their respective national championships?

OK, this is the best I could come up with on short notice, give me some time and I'll start an entirely seperate post.

I would say Cade Baxter who plays for the Lake Highlands Wildcats this summer is a really good player who deserves a shot to play at the next level. He was an all-state player at Rockwall as a Jr., but struggled his senior year with a couple of nagging injuries and being switched from his OF position to wherever he was needed most. He can play anywhere on the field and is a s.c.r.a.p.p.y kid.

He is a GREAT kid from a GREAT family and can play at the D1 level in my opinion.

OP - You're right Cade is a super kid. According to Rusty and from what I've seen, he and Taylor are vital to the Wildcats success.

The two Rockwall boys playing for us this summer have both been fighting injuries that occurred during their HS season. Moseley has had arm and ankle problems while Noble has been dealing with a wrist injury. Both have had to shut it down for the summer.

DTiger -- sorry to hear about all of your bad "luck" (with injuries and such). I won't get too gushy, but you've come a long way since your initial posts. You've gained credibility simply by communicating outside the scope of IM or Myspace. I'm glad you didn't give up.

Yes, I know the PG Underclassmen Showcase is this week (or next) --- another conflict with post-season team events. Oh well. I have to say that I'm surprised that your team is playing in College Station --- I assumed (you know where that leads) that their championship was reserved for Premier teams.

You've done the 16 yr olds proud -- oops, I hope this doesn't mean we're going to start seeing more kids post!

Good luck during your stretch run. As you know, I have a soft spot in my heart for your team.
My dad's an aggie, I've been to the ole Kyle Field many a time.

I am a little disapointed at the timing of this showcase tryout thing because we were looking into the tournament in East Cobb but after this Florida trip, some people wanted a little more relaxation.

I really don't know why the team went that route-not that I'm second guessing. I, unlike the rest of my team, had the opportunity last summer of going down to Houston and subsequently Mckinney for AABC. Those past events led me to not be overly anctious to go back down there again.

I'm glad I can get some soft spots in peoples hearts with all these DBAT-ers.

John,

I really wish something would work out for Cade. I was around him ALOT this spring in Rockwall and the kid has his priorities straight and has some talent and the ability to play at the next level in my opinion. Taylor will get his shot for sure. He's a super player with a lot of talent as well.

I hate to hear about Travis. I know he and his family are very disappointed at what has happened with his shoulder. He should be able to bounce back without much problem. The shoulder injury and lay-off should give the other nagging injuries time to heal.

Chad had the wrist thing almost all spring. I saw him catch many a game that he probably shouldn't have. He was the ultimate team player and didn't want to miss a game.

Thanks for the update on Travis and Chad, even though it was not what I wanted to hear!

Good luck the rest of the way and it was good meeting you last night at DBAT. Ya'll have quite a nice facility and we are looking forward to using it plenty!!
