The Mets are for real, in the National League.

The fact that the White Sox rotation is a little league rotation compared to what they were last year has caught up to them.

I wouldn't say A-Rod is done in NYC, but he better start to turn it around soon or Steinbrenner will be looking to do something with him, even if he has to pay half of his contract.

Pedro will never again be the pitcher he was on the Sox, but if healthy, I think he can come back and be a good pitcher.

This is an interesting question. As a high school athlete I don't really notice the parents, I notice the players, and it's the same way. The great players usually keep to themselves, never bragging how good they are. It's usually the mediocre players who run their mouth bragging how they're the next big thing.

And for the last question, I have no idea.
Can any National League team be for real? The Mets are good, but their lack of pitching will catch up to them. Look for the Cardinals to be the last NL team standing in October.

Pitching staff overused last year; paying the price this year. See Red Sox, circa. 2005 and Cubs circa. 2004 for similar examples of the phenomenon.

Something is going on with ARod that we don't know about yet.

Pedro is now proving that the Red Sox knew what they were doing in not offering more years. He can be good again, but never great. Damon will prove them right too.

Because the kid did look like the second coming of the Mick up until he rose high enough to play with the second comings of Willie, Roberto, Hank, etc. It takes a while for reality to sink in. Usually the kid figures it out long before the parents.

What horse race? Was there a horse race?

And for a completely unrelated Sunday morning musing: How 'bout that Floyd Landis guy! Once again an American cyclyst sticks it to the french. Gotta love it.
Sorry TR...hope you didn't have a horse in that race.

I had the dang gate hooked to the hitch on my old Chrysler and wouldn't you know it...just as I was about to pull forward Stop in the Name of Love came on the radio...I couldn't do it TR...disobey my radio.

I heard alot of whoopin' and hollerin' for me to get goin', but hey. its a fairly long song with very distinct and intelligible lyrics. Even if I had decided to be disobedient I'm sure that my old Chrysler would not have followed suit! Those old Chryslers can be stubborn you know.

The Mets are real. Unfortunately for them, their pitching staff is Memorex and will hurt them in a short series.

White Sox are fine. Should be a great wildcard fight between them, the Tigers, and the Twins--with the other winning the division.

It may be the best for the Mets that Pedro has had the extended rest. His arm will be fresher down the stretch and into Oct.

I hear you on the parents, thing. I just hate to see parents, who's normally great hitting son goes into a prolonged offensive AND defensive slump, storm around the field/park/stadium when slummping son gets pulled and benched.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh Wilburrrrrrrrr!

Are the Mets for real? They are real, just hoping to stay compettitive to make it to the playoffs.

What has happened to the White Sox? Ozzy and his antics.

Is AROD done in NYC? No. He's having a bad year. All allstars have bad years. It's just when you happen to be playing in NY and are a Yankee, that it's all in centerstage.

Will Pedro be back and in tip top shape? Maybe. He has to want to be in tip top shape.

Why do parents of the worst kid on the field think he is the next coming of Mickey Mantle why while the parents of the top plays just sit and enjoy the game? It happens. Jealousy, denial, empathy, or just the insane.

One last one--who forgot to remove the starting gate in that horse race yesterday? Someone that isn't doing the same thing today.
