It's been awhile since I posted but I've been dwelling in the background. Since my son began to play high school ball things about the coaches never seemed quite right. There was always something. Even though he was always playing and this summer made the top summer team for the school he decided (I helped but the final decision was his) to switch schools. He played summer ball with his new school. Was everything perfect? As far as coaches it is like night and day. There is plenty of help plenty of coaching. Coaches who generally care about the players. Who will spend extra time one on one to help a kid improve.
Who said they will meet anyone at the field all they need to do is ask. Kids who came through the program and are now playing college ball come back and help out. Some at Division 1 schools.
At the beginning he was sitting a lot and finally he went to the coach and asked what he needed to do to get more playing time. The coach explained to him (not me) that he was just being over protective of a new player and a young arm. He asked him if he just wanted to pitch? My son said no way and he never sat another game after that accept after pitching.
This was a very tough and heart felt decision, everything was considered, academics, friends, girl friends, teammates, location and the night before it needed to be done my son came to me and said " I want to go".
Only time will tell how this will turn out but if the workouts that started immeadiately after their final game of the summer are any indications he will be a better player and an even better person for the move. Thanks everyone for all your input in the past it was extremely helpful.

What happens if it is something at the new school? do you switch again?

usually something is the kid is not playing but as you described it was not that.

Can you just switch schools at the high school level?
We do have the availability to switch schools in high school.
As far as switching again that was also a part of our discussion kind of the grass is alway greener type of discussion.
I explained to him that this was it and no you can not switch again whatever hand you are dealt you have to play it. We did a lot of investigating into the school academically to make sure he was better off.
I really didn't want to go into what the problems were since that is water under the bridge and it is better to look ahead rather then back.
Only time will tell if it was a good choice but for now there is no comparison.
