Bishop Dunne took 2 of 3 from Harlingen Military Academy. Winning 15-4 and 8-3

TCA lost to Houston St.Thomas 5-4.

Lynch and Grapevine Faith play tomorrow 5/5. Faith has to travel to Houston to face a very tough Houston Christian team.

Lynch plays San Antonio Holy Cross tomorrow as well. Game time is at 6pm but not sure of the site due to all the rain.

You have heard correctly they are currently the number 1 ranked Private school team in the state. They are a good hitting team all the way threw the order.

Very strong up the middle. Pitching wise they had a bad break earlier in the year in losing their number 1 lefty a DUKE signee to tommy john. There number two is very good as well. I believe he has signed with a D-1 school on the east coast. Throws in the mid to high 80's.

They are a very well coached team and their facility at Baseball USA is one of the best in the state.
Nolan is pretty solid. The only team they struggled with in District was BL. They have a good lefty as their ace and a few relievers who are not overpowering but hide the ball well. They are very athletic a lot of two sport athletes on the squad. Good speed and range by the outfielders.

Have a nice home field advantage with the students who tailgate and heckle the opposing team in a very funny way.
I felt like TCA and Nolan were pretty comparable this year....TCA lost to them twice but really should have/could have at least split with them. I think St. Michaels will compete with them, especially if St. Michaels throws the tall guy they threw against TCA last year.

Deez - BL should get by Houston St. Thomas easily (after you get by your first round match-up)...they are not the same St. Thomas squad we saw in the semi's the past 2 years, howevever, they do still have their quality centerfielder/hitter.

Cheapseats your right TCA and Nolan played really close this year and both are solid. In a one game playoff anything can happen especially if you run into a hot pitcher.

For Bl's sake I just hope they can play their first round game against Holy Cross tonight. Hopefully the weather holds off. Would hate it for both teams if it rains, especially the boys from Holy Cross. Bus trips are never fun especially ones that end up in a 5 hour trip and no baseball.

Bl has to take it one game at a time. Thanks for the heads up on St. Thomas. That center fielder is a stud. Thomas will be ready for whoever they play I can't imagine Biggio not having a team ready and thinking upset. But first and foremost BL has to get by Holy Cross first.

St. Thomas is definitely a solid well coached team but this year they are on the young/s c r a p p y side (minus the centerfielder)...that will be hard to match up with BL's team of big hitters, big pitchers and primarily all senior team.

Let us know if your game gets rained out tonight...I think CS son is planning to be there.

We will have to wait and see about the blowout. Baseball is a funny game. BL has not played since April 25 and hasn't been able to take a lot of reps on the field.

Their whole lineup was crushing the ball the last three games of the year, but who knows what a 10 day layoff will do. If Lynch continues to hit like they did the last week of season then look out. As of 2:15pm the game is still on for 6pm at Lynch.
Gotta give props to McKinney Christian. TAPPS 2A school this year started out playing some very tough public schools and large private schools. Took it on the chin, but the kids learned how to play all during that time. In the end MCA made the play offs for the second year in a row after never even coming close to winning a game in the history of the school.

MCA played Central Texas Christian on Saturday but lost 2-1. Great game for MCA starting pitcher, senior Scott Temple. He went the distance only giving up 2 unearned runs and striking out 14. Sure wish we had him another year.

The Mustangs placed 7 players on the all district teams as well.
What a crazy game at BL last night. Lynch won in 10 innings. McKitchen for Holy Cross did a great job in keeping hitters off balance. He threw about 140 pitches and was pulled in the bottom of the 10th. Lynch had several opportunities with runners on base each inning but several good plays were made by the Holy Cross defense on really hard hit balls.

Martin had the game winning single in the bottom of the 10th to drive in Adams. You could definitely tell Lynch had not played in 10 days. Also a really soft field didn't allow Lynch to run as much as they usually do. Baseball is a crazy game and on any night anybody can win. Great game by both teams.

Anyone see the score of the Faith game vs Houston Christian?

Lynch wins in the bottom of the 7th on a walk off hit by pitch with the bases loaded. Great game played by both teams despite some questionable calls by the boys in blue.

Next game is Friday in Waco vs the winner of the JP-II vs Central Catholic.
Big Red that CF from St. Thomas is a stud and he is only a Junior. Wish he played in the DFW area more often, would love to catch more of his games.

Final Four is set in 5A

BL vs Central Catholic- 2:30 Friday, Waco ISD Field 1

Houston Christian vs St. Pius 2:30 Friday, Waco ISD Field 2.

Both of these games should be really fun to watch. Any other good matchups in the lower classifications?
A big CONGRATS to the Lubbock Christian High School Eagles with their fifth straight appearance in the TAPPS 3A State tournament. LCHS pitcher Jared McDougal out-dueled Texas A&M signee Mason Leavitt leading LCHS to a 2-0 victory over Frisco Legacy Christian.

LCHS will face Tyler All Saints Episcopal in the semifinals at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Players to watch: Bobby Longren, Jared McDougal, and Aaron Stephenson. Jared and Bobby played for me before HS, sure feels good to see their continued success, even though their paths have been challenging.

Also, having witnessed the BL Friars firsthand, I especially want then to have success in the 5A tourney! Good luck to all TAPPS teams still playing.

BL started the bottom of the first inning with 11 consecutive men reaching base. 9 straight hits then a walk followed by an error. First out of the 1st inning was a sac fly by the 12th hitter. Pretty incredible stuff.

Starters were taken out after the 3rd inning allowing all the reserves to get a chance to play in the final four. Very classy move by the coach. BL came ready to play.

Houston St. Pius 6
Houston Christian 0

St. Pius pulls off the big upset of the states number 1 ranked private school team.

Bishop Lynch will play St. Pius tommorow at UMHB in Belton for the 5A State Championship. Game time is 2:30
