#15 Mets jersey now available. Per ESPN, a bridge agreement was signed with Majestic to go ahead and market his jersey even though he isn't a MLB player.

This really disappoints me. MLB forbids players names on jerseys unless they are on the 40 man roster. Just seems like anyone or any entity can do what they want. Very disappointed with the team, the agents, Majestic and Tebow.

My heart goes out to all of the players who have worked their butts off to make a MLB roster and proudly wear their name on a jersey and receive part of the MLB profits for that uni.

I just saw on SportsCenter since Tebow isn't on the 40 man roster the Mets and he don't have to share the revenue from the $125 Tebow jersies with the MLBPA. The members of the MLBPA worked their tails off to get where they are. Tebow gets it handed to him and walks off with the profits.

I wonder if that will get him a fastball in the ear hole in the spring. I could picture a MLB pitcher sarcastically saying in the dugout, "Let's see if he has MLB reflexes at the plate" and drilling him.

Well he probably Shares some of the Revenue with the mets or that minor league Team.

I don't think that MLB has existed since the 60's.  If side show Tim is at spring training, it's similar to Garth Brooks 15 years ago.  Photo Op, autographs, sell some tickets, end of Tim the baseball player.

BTW financially the mets probably already have made Profit. Jersey sales of the first days probably paid for his Bonus/salary.

BTW it is pretty sad for the state of Baseball that they make such an Hype around a failed Football Player. I can't see there being a craze about let's say Chris coghlan or another role Player announcing he plans to Play NFL.

It's only hype if you let it bother you.  It's a side show.  I'm not sure he is a failed football player, won a national championship, won NFL playoff game.  And I enjoy his SEC analysis.

I got what he meant and it bothers me a lot that he is letting them profit from him without doing anything of significance.

I thought he was better than that.

I just don't get the "bother" part, but to each his own.  I'm also mystified why any adult would want to wear a jersey with another man's name on it.  Of course, my Dan Marino jersey excepted.

Right or wrong, love or hate, good or bad.

Tebow is a polarizing figure!

No matter how this story ends up, it's going to get a lot of attention. Even more than it already has. even those that don't follow baseball are going to know how he did.  If he stinks, it will be a popular topic.  If he does well, it will be an even more popular topic.  The only thing that will stay the same is those that hate him or love him will continue to hate or love him. I don't really love him, but I certainly see no reason to hate him.  Seems like a very good human being to me who has accomplished a lot in life.

I almost get the feeling the Tebow will end up getting involved in politics at some point.  I can see it now... the all time record for most pages on the HSBBW will be titled... Tebow for President!

Jerry, while we've got ya.  Can you tell us if very many people within baseball loath all of this stuff like some others do?   I'm talking MLBers, front office folks, scouts, managers and such.  People who are actually in the game at the highest levels.

I think they are very professional, and focus on their particular craft (playing, scouting, analysis, etc).  I doubt many spend any time at all loathing on Timmy.  That's left for twitter, chat boards and other digital niches to spend time on.

I don't think many people in baseball have a problem with Tim Tebow trying to play.  However, most of those people don't think he has much of a chance to be successful.  He basically has two tools that could possibly play in the Big Leagues... He runs well enough and he has plus raw power.  If somehow he can actually hit MLB pitching, those two tools might be enough.  This, in his case, would require some very unusual natural ability to hit, because he is behind almost everyone in experience.  I would say he might have a chance had he signed out of high school rather than being almost 30 years old and not playing since his junior year of high school.

Everyone we have talked to that has seen him hit raves about his raw power.  I know many will disagree with me, but I like the added attention he is bringing to the game. I liked it when Michael Jordan played and I liked it when Garth Brooks played, too.  I don't think Michael or Garth did it for the money or the fame, Garth just loved baseball.  A Heismann trophy winner wants to play baseball.  I mean there are many more serious problems in the world.  What ever happens with Tebow playing baseball isn't going to change anything.  If they are using him to make money, what's unusual about that?  Isn't that what professional sports does?  Isn't that what big companies do when they pay some athlete to represent them?  This whole thing wIll not cost any of us a dime if we don't attend his games or buy his Jersey.
