Great kids selected to go. I thought Blake Beavan's brother came on here and said he was going?

Gotta run, now....7pm game @ Kelly against some team called the Tigers. Wink

Well as you might have known I would come to the rescue to put your mind at ease!!! Yes, Blake was on the team and elected to decline the invite if in case that his DALLAS TIGERS team was qualified for the World Series and headed to Farmington. I was told later that we should have said "Yes we were coming" even if we were not going; to say NO when & If we made the World Series and I could not bring myself to be a person who would be GREEDY in thinking that we would try to pre-determine the outcome of the STATE & REGIONAL tournaments.

Blake appreciates the invitation from the AREA CODE games for the opportunity but also recognized that he made a commitment to the DALLAS TIGERS and owe it to them to be there in support of OUR goal to make it to the World Series in Farmington, NM. Keep in mind that we are on a 3peat attempt and that that in it self is pretty exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew it had to be a personal decision that would keep him on the roster for the AC. He's way too good for them not to choose him. Good luck on the quest for Farmington! 3Peat.......that's awesome!

What about the rumor about Coppell? Any words from you on that one?!

At last, what a refreshing post.

It's good to know that there are still a few out there teaching whats right no matter how green the grass is on the other side.

AMEN to that! Is there something there in the "green" statement?!

I know nothing about the player involved or any possible rumor.

Simply saying that it looks like the "team" concept has become noticed by at least one family.
As for the rumor: Well it is just that, a RUMOR. Blake lives in Irving and will be returning to his own Irving HS next month as expected. People have too much time on their hands and communicate a little to much sometimes. As much as we appreciate everyone's concern he is dedicated to his team. His Dad and both brothers graduated from Irving. We are looking forward to a great senior season at the "Crooked I".

As for the AFLAC we are playing all that day by day but he will be in Farmington with his Tigers when we get there. As for pitching the final, well whose to say he would pitch the final anyway. We have 4 or 5 pitchers who are classified to take that challenge. In the World Series, every game is important.
TigerParent,
If what you say about putting team first is true then why would Blake go to an Area Code tryout in the first place? The possibility of the Tigers going to Farmington has been know for a long time. Maybe AFLAC, Farmington, and Area Code is too much to bite off in that short period?

I think that any player whos team qualifies for Farmington should go and bypass Area Code. But, to paint players who accept an Area Code invitation, as "Greedy" just because their team may qualify for Farmington is wrong in my opinion.

As for the Area Code tryout, well we were told to go to that no matter what because it was one of the most populated scouting events of the year. That is why we attended!

OK well maybe the word GREEDY is a little harsh, but you have to understand where I am coming from this year. We are getting beatup, pushed, slandered, begged, gossipped, labled, etc this year and all I want is for everyone to enjoy this time with their SON. This is my last of 3 boys and I can't tell you how I am feeling about now. I only dreamed of these times years ago but I nevered stopped to figure out how to deal with these times. Here I am at 1 am worrying about what you guys have to say. That should be a sign in itself! (UGH!) I need sleep! But the original posters are correct in saying that AC & AFLAC need to get it together with AABC WC and DO NOT overlap these dates. Who cares if the kids schools start on 8-5 or 8-15 or 8-24. The Area Code & AFLAC are a short (5 day) event and if someone missed 5 days of school SO WHAT! That is coming from a MOM who STRIVED on perfect attendance. Blake had 11 years working of perfect attendance until his Sophomore year after the hurricanes hit and bumped our Florida tourney last year. But you know it was more important to me than anyone else so come on AC/AFLAC, quit trying to be difficult and impossible and set it up so that kids can attend both. After all these 2 events are for the kids right?

I think that any player whos team qualifies for Farmington should go and bypass Area Code. But, to paint players who accept an Area Code invitation, as "Greedy" just because their team may qualify for Farmington is wrong in my opinion.

PD, thanks! He is finally rounding back into form.

KG, I agree 100%.

TigerParent, ignore the BS. These are tough and stressful times for a parent. The last thing you need to do is worry about someone else questioning your PERSONAL decisions. Frankly they border on attacks on your integrity and I do not approve. Smacks of jealousy to me. We all have to choose our path. Posters need to respect your decision and get over it. It is a tough process and we all make differnt decisions for different reasons. If they are not in your shoes, they cannot understand your reasons. There are so many events and so many decisions that it is tough.

The key is to make sure your son has fun. It is a game people. It is meant to be fun.
I echo BigHit's sentiment concerning the BB dog-pile. The summer logistics are tough enough without having to justify every decision. I suppose we all hope we will have some of the same difficult choices to make, eh?

I am in favor of TEAM first....but I believe there are ways to juggle other opportunities. It looks like TigerParent is doing her best to manage things for their family.
WOW! a lot of egos on here... Tigerparent-- Did you you say three peat for the Tigers in Farmington? I didn't think the Tigers had ever been to Farmington.... last I heard, the LH Wildcats were the ones making a repeat trip out there... correct me if I am wrong.

And to all who know... Farmington def. ranks above AC and Aflac... Farmington is 2nd to none...

I think anyone who has been there would attest to that...

NO, actually it will be a 3 peat for our Dallas Tiger team as we have won the 15 yr old MMWS and then last year we won the 16 yr old MMWS so If we win in Farmington that would calculate to a 3 Peat!
