I'll explain what I think he's doing. Once he tips, the bat never stops (elementary Tip n' Rip, per bbscout). He is "turning the barrel rearward" through the supination of his top hand. "Top Hand Swivel". There is no way that he is "holding the hinge to unhinge". The hands are not dead. Why does EVERY MLB player talk about his hands?

You can't hit the ball to the opposite field without the hands. I've tried it. It works really well off the tee, and during soft/front toss. Get to a game situation, you'll stare at that pitch every time.

But, it's your choice.

Where did I ever say the hands were "dead"?

1. Make sure the batter is leading with them.

Doesn't this contradict Ted Williams' "The Hips Lead the Way" section in the Science of Hitting?

Why do you think the hitter must lead with his hands?

Your original post was asking about the hands. You mentioned that "most coaching with the hands involves arms." So my perspective on your original post is the batter should lead with the hands... meaning the hands are ahead of the arms in the swing.

As for contradicting a book Roll Eyes... i haven’t read it so i do not know. Hands vs hips is a different discussion.

You didn't state it. I believed it was implied. Apologies if it wasn't.

What do the hands do then? (outside of grip the bat)

I'd be interested to see a hitter LEAD with the arms. The hands are attached to the arms... I'm sure you know that.

Knob to the ball utilizes the arms.
Barrel to the ball utilizes the hands.

Of course he has, but I think that we should discuss this at the other site. He's been "In the sequence" a few times. I don't think he does the move. Those hands are VERY quick though, and that's why he'll DEFINITELY have a lot of fun in college.

Alright Kid... first, that's what i said.

Second, you posted a question, or topic of discussion. I joined in... with my opinion. You can continue to quote books and use big words... but you are contradicting many of your former posts concerning hitting. Stop being such an a$$.

Sorry about that... I was thrown off by your "Lead with the hands" comment.
