Despite all the good points made here -- I just love HS baseball -- as part of my sons' life experiences. I love it for me too...what it means to our family. I love that he has a chance to play with his classmates and to represent his school -- to sacrifice individual recognition for the sake of team (which they can do in the summer as well). I love when his team plays Plano and Plano West and Allen....and I hate then they lose to them! No one suggests replacing HS football with specialized summer camps, even though one could make a pretty good argument in favor of doing so in terms of skills development.
Enjoy HS baseball for the experience! Soon it will be over. I've driven to Abilene and Jacksonville for college baseball -- and it is a different thrill....I'll just leave it at that.

Well stated!
I agree wholeheartedly texan.
screwball that is how we compensate for the lack of funds we recieve during the season.
we dont care about winnig games we just want to make a little extra change so we can feed our families. (ha ha ha )
just kidding.
I do not know any coaches that I have been associated with that will not put his best players on the field and try to win every district ball game he can.
It just doesnt make sense to play kids that arent going to help you win ball games.
so, they can mow my yard all they want to but it aint gonna get them anymore playing time..
That reminds me of a story im sure you guys want to hear a story right????
I will make it short:
I sneak into a get me fired club meeting, oh i mean a booster club meeting a little bit late so some folks dont know im there. This one lady who im sitting right behind makes a comment that she will do some type of work if the coach will play her son more. Well im sitting right behind her and when it was my turn to speak I told the congregation that no matter how much work you do it will not get your sons any playing time. The boosters did not like that but I dont want anyone thinking that is a factor when we make a line-up.
well i thought it was funny!!!!!

THAT is why I don't go to booster club meetings.
DeSoto JV is now 11-2 in District play and has clinched 2nd place.
