That's pretty funny, redbird5. That was my sentiments regarding Aaron Rogers, and my fantasy football championship over the weekend. Wink

As a San Diego Chargers fan, watching Monday nights game was a pain in the rear. Former Charger Brees broke Marino's record by throwing a TD pass to former Charger, Darren Sproles. Not to mention, one of the top RB's in the NFL playing for the Falcons, Michael Turner is another former Charger...it's UGLY here in SD, hopefully Norv Turner and AJ Smith will be gone after next weekend!

I'm very happy for Drew Brees, he's a Class Act, and it couldn't of happened to a better guy. He's a Leader that commands the ultimate respect on and off the football field. We witnessed that respect and admiration from his teammates immediately after he broke the record. Lastly, his post game speech in the locker room to his teammates was awesome. He shared the credit with Everyone on the team; the offense, defense, special teams, and coaches...I wouldn't bet against them in the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong. I don't mind seeing Norv on the sideline, as long as he's not the Head Coach. We all know that he's an offensive genius, he just can't lead a team. Oakland, Washington, and San Diego gave him an opportunity to be the man and he blew it.

Spanos needs to fire AJ Smith as well. The Chargers Will Not get one of the higher echelon coaches to come to San Diego as long as Smith is the GM. IMHO, the only reason why Norv has lasted this long is the Bolts strong second half finishes, and the fact that he's more or less a puppet to Smith. DREW BREES, Michael Turner, Darren Sproles, and Wes Welker are just a few players that management dropped the ball on. Let's also not forget, the Chargers were 14-2 when AJ fired Marty Schottenheimer (spelling?) a few years back...yes, that was a great move!

This thread is about DREW BREES, and as Tx-Husker stated, the Saints were not a very good football team before he signed with New Orleans...they're pretty good now.
Eli Manning no slouch himself becoming the all-time single season record holder for 4th qtr TDs in a season at 15 and throwing near 5,000 yards this season. Was pressed early this year by being asked if he was among the NFL elite QBs and said he was. Just about everyone except for yours truly knew he was a top flight QB and backed it up with a huge season with a Giants team decimated by injury and lack of signing available free agents in an uncapped year where the Giants were supposed to finish third or last in the NFC East brehind the Dream Team and the Cowboys.

Having beat the greatest team in NFL history in SB XLII, Eli had proven himself back then and even before he won his first SB when he was pulling off 4th qtr wins.

Brees, Brady and Stafford threw for 5,000 yards this year. Rogers would have if not for sitting out the last game. Ten quarterbacks threw for over 4,000 yards. Defensive players can't touch the quarterback above the shoulders and below the waist. Receivers can't be touched after five yards. Last week Phil Simms said some teams use pass interference as an intended play on 3rd and 15 or longer. They set up the defender to possibly interfere.

Teams pass two thirds of the time now. Scores are often insane. Corners can't cover. Tackling be below average. Defense used to win games. Tell that to the team losing to three of the worst defensive teams in the NFL ... Packers, Patriots and Saints.

Has the NFL become the no defense game the NBA became in the mid 90's?
