The pitcher from Londonderry HS is Alex Szymanski. He was 8-1 last year with an ERA around 0.8. He was very strong in the state tournament games last year. So far this year he's 2-0 this with an ERA of 0.5, and has 25 Ks in 14 innings.

i saw the szymanski boy throw an inning last night.looked good .very surprised the coach brought him right in from the outfield with no warmups, and losing at that point.
what about the gerry kid at new hampton, and the lapoint kid anybody here about them?
it looks like class l in nh is lacking the big studs it had the last few years. or the season is just to early to tell?i think on the seacoast most of the teams have more than normal underclassmen stepping into some big roles it looks like most of them stepped up so far. any thoughts ?
nh baseball,i'm sure you have seen the talent decline in recent years, as i have.my boys are 3 years apart and the drop in talent is quite real in those three years.people have told me it runs in cycles.i'm sure it's this way most everywhere,so maybe we drop our expectations?then doing ok makes you a stud? who knows.all i was trying to do is get some nh input ,didn't get what i thought i'd get but we are alive ,kind of like the talent level dropping off from yr to yr but still hanging on.
baseball....ya gotta love it
Info! I do not believe that any paper or news sourse picked Spaulding to go all the way. Spaulding does have one real DI prospect in Ryan Walfield. He is 6'4" - 210lbs and lead class L baseball last year with 72 k's in 42 innings of work. He finished off the year in legion ball with a combined 187 k's ( + High School). Ryan has signed an early commitment to Quinnipiac University, A DI school in the NEC.
congratulations to ryan walfield on being accepted to quin. bballnh do you have the website for nh baseball stats?i've been looking for something that kept stats for nh baseball.i'm surprised he led class l with those stats i thought doyle had more than that.the kid from portsmouth had 99 don't know the innings but must be on the website you have.how many wins did he have? actually it doesn't matter as long as he's happy with the school he chose.it's a great thing to see a boy from the seacoast go di. any one know if he got some baseball money or acedemic? lets here about some more nh boys.
I am happy to see that NH is alive and I too am very happy for a local player to get picked up. Who knows maybe something good will happen in June. I do know that he works hard at it and he has projectability. Does anybody know other current Division 1 players/prospects going to or currently in a D-1 program and what schools are represented? Lets keep it going. Good job 20dad and bballnh
i don't know how many legion games he played but that kid must have pitched lights out to strike out another 115 during legion, and i saw on another post he recieved 500 letters from 100 schools, holy cow i can't even think of 100 schools ,i read somewhere jeff alison had ,i think 25 schools interested in him and he was drafted in the first round.........this kid is not going to school he's getting drafted . great job ryan make the seacoast proud
A couple of ballplayers from NH are currently playing (and DOING WELL) for their college programs. Corey Muscara- (Trinity) is a freshman pitcher at Siena College. Nick Asselin-(Trinity) is a soph pitcher at Boston College and Terry Doyle (Salem) also is a pitcher (freshman) at Boston College. This summer they all will be working hard for their summer ball teams.... Corey-NYCBL, Nick-ACBL, and Terry-NECBL. Good luck guys! You make NH proud!
20dad,
The only info I have came from an inside source who was there for the selection process for the All-State Baseball Teams. I believe Terry Doyle had 71-70 k's. Regardless of the K's Terry was the best I saw in NH last year. To answer your question about a web sight, I do not believe that the state actually keeps those stats. I think that the state relies on the coaches to bring those with them to the selection meetings.
The boy that your refering to in portsmouth, if he is the same player I am thinking of, he was probably the toughest player I saw. The type of player you want in there at crunch time.(CA ?) Ryan Recieved a full Baseball for the 2006 season. As you probably already Know, Scholorships work on a annual basis. So as long as he proforms both on the field and in the classroom, We have been told that it should stay the same for the length of his stay there.
20dad,

I would Like to answer your question on Ryan Walfield"s Stat's/letters. As for the stats, We went with what was givin to us from both his High School Coach and his Legion Coach. All these stats are what we pass on to the schools that were inquiring/Recruiting him. As far as the letters go, the 100 schools was a ball park figure. Of course all the letters were not from just D-1 schools, the actual D-1 School count was 42. All the others were from D-2 & 3 schools.
Ryan Has had some interest from Pro Scouts, but the interest has been nothing compared to the likes of Mr. Allison or Mark Rogers of Maine. I firmly believe that you will see Ryan playing ball for Quinnipiac next year bearing any major changes from now and june.

A proud Dad!
My thought and prayers go out to the family, friends , team mates, teachers of 17 year Matt Sarno. Matt was a junior at Oyster River High School in Durham NH and captain of his baseball team. He played baseball on Monday and past away two days later of acute leukemia. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 8 baseball team. Something like this should keep everything in perspective and help some of us realize what is really important in life. My sympathy goes out to the Sarno family.
On behalf of the Spaulding High School Baseball Team, I would like to pass on our thoughts an prayers to the family, friends, teammates and teachers of 17 year old Matt Sarno. While explaining what had happened to Matt you could see the pain in each of the boys faces as the news of a fellow ballplayer hit. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Sarno family.
Hey 20dad, I was reading the Portsmouth Herald and came across an article that I assume is about the Portsmouth player you referred to having a great season last year. Great to see that he has settled in at the JUCO level and picked up where he left off. Congrats to Chris Anderson. Glad to see another seacoast boy able to play at the next level. Who knows, maybe he's on someone else's radar screen with those stats. Keep it going NH-hopefully the rest of the baseball world will notice baseball players do exist up here in Northern New England. applaude party I've attached a link to the article I'm referring to. http://www.seacoastonline.com/news/04292005/sports/39656.htm
bball nh, i thought you might be ryans dad the way you knew all those stats, ryan has done well to get a full boat anywhere that's a big deal no matter where the school is or what division.i see you are helping with rochester so you see more than i do ,those teams that we don't see to much of (for portsmouth we didn't play nashua for 2 years)they have some, or i should say had some studs we never see.the Baleui boy comes to mind from last years nashua team .he played in the twin state games, the morin boy from goffstown, the whitehouse boy from farmington.again i don't know for a fact but i believe all those kids had a very high k. count.i know its class i but i believe the DEmko boy from gilford had 115 k's last year or something like that.I hope you don't think i'm trying to make light of what ryans done that's not the case at all he works very hard as i read in the paper.he diserves all the accolades he gets,i'm allways very happy when i see nh boy's do well especially the seacoast boy's makes me proud to be from nh.
i have been lucky enough over the last6 or 7 years to travel around for one of my son's baseball experience.florida, tenn,ny,.in 1998 we started sendy a team of 12 year olds to cooperstown, and that still happens. the reason was to show the kids and the parents what's out there for talent, some times it works sometimes it doesn't.but there are some talented kids .kids at 14,15 throwing 91-92.hard to believe but true. Some kids will never reach that level..but they know it's there and it takes hard work to get there.even then nothing's for sure.
my point is the cream will rise to the top, on it's own,and will be better for it.
20dad,
Brett Palanski & Bleau from Nashua went to URI.
Luke Demko aslo went to URI. Bleau & Demko's name's are not on thier roster, so I am not sure what happened there. Jamie Morin went to UVM. Ryan tries to stay in touch with him, but I have not heard anything in a while. Jason Whitehouse went down to Spartenburg Methodist JC and from what I read is doing very well there. Just a quick update.
BCBall32,
I thought that was going to happen to those two.
On a recruitment trip down to URI in the fall they both had indicated that might be what would happen to them. It is really to bad to here that about Jamie, he is a great kid. He had mentioned to my son that he was not real happy with his situation. Lets all hope he lands on his feet, he deserves it.

Mr. BCBall32, I applaud your ongoing efforts there at BC. You have certainly pick up right were you left off last year. I will never forget the throw that you made to third base last year againts Spaulding to silence a late 7th inning rally. It was my son that you threw out trying for the triple. Ryan still say's he was under the tag. (: (:

Best of luck to you and your new team!!!
