Dean College would be the 4th best team in New England. Uconn-Avery Point is one of the best JC in the Northeast. The have been to the NJCAA D-II World Series a couple of times and Coach Roger Bidwell has done an outstanding job with the program.
I coach at Manchester CC in CT. We have finished runners-up the last 3 years in the region. If you would rank the top 5, it would most likely be UCAP(they are by themselves) Roger is a top notch coach, CCRI and Massasoit very close, then we'd probably slot in right behind them along with Quinsigamond CC. That's based on the past 3 seasons. This season Northern Essex is very strong.
According to this thread, "Tri-State" means NY, MA, CT, RI, and NJ. But a lot of people (nobody in this forum, of course) seem to think that NY begins at Long Island and ends somewhere near Westchester. Just proppin' WNY.
It used to be that the "tri-state" region was where the local NYC stations covered for local news. That would be No.NJ,LI,Rockland,Westchester and Fairfield counties. But with the commute to NYC going further out it now is about a 100 mile radius from Manhattan.
duecehook, very nice to here you mention northern essex, the baseball program has come along way in the past few years.very difficult for any teams in the north east to do real well as most kids want to go south, and i don't blame them.as i've allways said there is someplace for everyone if you want to play baseball .most all the junor colleges i've seen this year are places i'd send my son .(he plays at northern essex) they are all worth a look
They are quite strong, and the rest of the season will be quite interesting. Are you making the trip down to CT to see us play each other? If so, please introduce yourself. Chris
deucehook i will be coming down for that game, hopefully it will be better than some i've seen lately, how about those kids at roxbury cc .i was told the coach quit so the seasons over for them?what a shame. i'll look you up next weekend.
Roxbury is still ok. It was Bunker Hill that had the issue. We got in 1/2 inning yesterday against Massasoit before the rain. Today was a no-go against Roxbury as well. Hopefully playing Massasoit on Tuesday if the field can take it, we got a ton of rain.
looks like a rain out this weekend coach, did you play massasoit? if so how did you do?we played qcc ,tues and won.we have mass. on fri if it doesn't rain
deucehook,I was at the game last night against necc. that's a very nice campus.nice field. i would have introduced myself but i didn't think you looked to happy. maybe we'll meet next weekend. good luck
had we played a bit better, i'd have been ok. i have no problem taking a beating if we came to play. that happens. you guys are very strong and the tourney will be interesting. depends on who has the most pitching.
he's solid. there are a lot of variables this year. not everyone has seen all of everyone elses pitching. That will be important come next weekend. last year we ran out of pitching to get to the finals. looks like you guys will have holyoke first round.
the seeing will take place tonight. should be 1-NECC 2-MASSASOIT 3-MCC 4-HOLYOKE
1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3 on friday. 3pm 2 different sitea at Massasoit. Saturday 2 winners and 2 losers at 11. one team gone. two teams with one loss play at 3. another team gone. sunday 11 am and 3 if necessary
well we beat massasoit tonight 12-11.12 innings what a game .we were losing 11-5 bottom of 9 came back to tie.should be a great weekend.thanks for the tourney info. good luck this weekend
We just couldn't get it going to even reach there. left 15 guys on against holyoke and everything they hit seemed to fall in. just wasn't meant to be. the good thing is that next year began today.
tough to start with massasoit, that first game is huge. and they are tough.good luck in your recruiting. what do your guys do for summer ball?i'm allways interested in what goes on in different area's. been great chatting with you on this web.
we've had mild interest on the big man to play in the NECBL in a reserve capacity, but most play either their last year of legion, one plays for a team that was runner up at the regionals last year, or they will play in the hartford twilight league. it's a wood bat league that is a high caliber of ball. my team has 9 guys with pro experience on our 24 man roster, with the other 15 playing Div. I or II. My asst. "the other big guy" retired from pro ball in '03 and still throws it.
Thanks, you guys have a nice plaque to add as well. Congrats go your way as well. It's rare to get 2 guys from the Northeast region form the same team to get the honor.
Monroe CC out ot Rochester NY is a very good program. We split with them this year. They ended up losing the district championship a best out of 3 to Chesapeake CC of Maryland to advance to the DII JUCO World Series.
We played Frederick and Anne Arundel this year, and are looking to go back to MD for a 9 or 10 day trip. I like that area, and it is just far enough to get decent weather.
