2bagger, our pitching is what is gonna make or break us this yr. We lost our 1 and 2 from last year. During the summer the pitching was decent, but we are lacking experience with only one senior. If that goes well, we definitely won't have a problem scoring runs, and we have 6 starters returning from last years super sectional team.
Prairie Ridge will lack senior leadership, in the past thats were Coach Pec did his best work, leading. Potentially one of the best underclasses in the state. Cary Grove will need to swing the bats and play great defense, both attributes they have the potential to do and have done over the course of Coach Sutherlands tenure. The FVC could be interesting, especially with the likes of Grayslake Central.
The msl west will be tough. 4 out of 6 teams will have their number 1 back, Huenecke, Gailey, Wright and Monroe. In addition conant will also have last years number 2 back in Josh Finnis along with a very fast lead-off hitter in Lainge. Scaumburg has one of the best young catchers in D'agata, great arm. Palatine has a very good 3b and 2b treutler and allen returning along with maybe the best cf in the state in Biela. They also have a very good catcher in reynolds. Not too sure who plays the infield for shs or conant. Should be a tough conference. On the other side I would look for BG or prospect. Bg has Godowa as a number one on the hill and can also play outfield or infield and singleton should be back healthy this year.
Rockford Boylan will be very tough all around with a lot back from last year. Jake Smolinski is probably the best all around player in the state, and he can pitch a little bit too. Lyons is always tough, St. Rita has a couple of big tough pitchers, Palatine has a lot coming back, New Trier, Grayslake and Naperville Central again. Prairie Ridge will also be good, but is probably a year away.
In our area, O'Fallon and Edwardsville will again be very good. Name any Belleville school and you can bet that they will have a lot of talent. How far will Belleville West make it with Flannigan? Who knows but they are stacked. Jake Odorizzi, of Highland will make that team very good. He can bring the heat. Waterloo, in our conference as well as Highland, should be considered the favorite.

FYI, we are working with Edwardsville in an attempt to play our game at Grizzlie Stadium. This has been the site of our supersectional games and so, it would be great for our kids to play there. If you aren't aware of it, our games can generate huge crowds. I don't know the magnitude of large draws in the Chicagoland area but this game, I'm sure, would be comporable to any gate up there. I hope we can pull this off!

Doesn't this sound like a broken record. It seems I make the same post each year.
With Sweaty focusing on life in the MVC, do you think it's safe to talk about the West Suburban Conference outlook for this spring?

With lots of talent having graduated, it should be pretty interesting to see who steps up.

Being from Downers Grove, I'm going to say that DGN wins the Silver division and DGS wins the Gold division, but I am admittedly biased.
