very true. Evanston lost their best hitter in Lucas last year and other than Oberman, they will lose to GBS, MS, and NT. Every year those three teams compete for the CSL South championship and evanston isn't usually in the race.
Columbia should be pretty good in class A. They have EIU signees C Ben Thoma and P Josh Mueller coming back as well as two good underclassmen in OF Joel Greatting and P Trent Blank.
man lash you sound like you got the whole thing wraped up. who's going to pitch for nt other than paul duncan and heber?
Glenbrook North should take the CSL north. 5 of 8 returning position starters with good people filling in at the other three spots.

Is Glenbrook North really such a heavy favorite in the CSL North? I noticed in the Prep Baseball Report that Highland Park has a lot of players rated in the top players for each class section. I really don’t know that much about either team, but because I’m nearby I’m curios.
Glenbrook North may not be the favorite for the fact that not many of there players are known all that well. Just because they lost Altbach, there is no reason to think they will not to well. Personally, the only player from HP I feel should be ranked by PBR would be Risi.
Jordan Rosenberg is a fine player as well for HP as is Josh Tolan.
I agree about Risi. Many of the HP guys are rated by PBR because they take lessons at MVP and are known by those guys.
I think their numbers speak for themself regardless of where they take their lessons.
Right on the money bballdad.
ripcty i agree with you that GBN is going to be one of the top teams in the CSL but i was talking about the south division, I give you credit, every year GBN is a very solid team that should win the North, lets just say itll be a battle again when we meet at Duke this year.
How about clemente. How come Clemente can never get any love when it comes to this topic...... Oh yea i forgot its because were in the public league.
as for highland park. risi and tolan are pretty good. i wouldnt say that they are in the pbr rankings because they take lessons. they are in pbr because they are in the best that went to those showcases. if everyone in the state went to those, the rankings would be somewhat different.
GBN's looking forward to the match up in the sectional finals against new trier

Whoever wins the MSL West will have to be considered a top team next year. To win it you will have to do something like this:
Monday vs. Fremd and Matt Gailey (who can beat any team)
Weds. vs. Schaumburg with Monroe and a very good team as well.
Friday vs. Palatine Huenecke, Biela, etc.
Sat. Non comference DH
Monday vs. Conant and Austin Wright
Weds. vs. Barrington Dain Hall & Co.
Frday. vs. Hoffman (who has a few big wins each year)
Sat. Non conference DH
6 games vs.very good MSL East teams
Back around the West again after that!
It will be BRUTAL!

How about Clemente's schedule
@ Leyden
@ Mt.Carmel
Flyer's Classic
@ New Treir
@ W.Young
Jacobs
@ Sandburg
@ Hersey
and @Niles West. Just to name a few! Now how can a team from the Public League get that schedule?

easy...
That just proves that you can come from a rough and tumble neighborhood that can be filled with good baseball players.
Doesn't take much to play catch or hit on a field.
What Clemente players have is HUSTLE and DESIRE.
Three or four players can make a star of someone.
Key is to outhustle the competition.

yes we do those things but dont it wrong we can out play every team in the state to. Im pretty sure people are going to laugh or say im in way over my head but that just makes proving them wrong feel that much better.
Walther Lutheran in Class A. They have just about everyone back from a Regional champion team which had gave Driscoll quite a scare in the sectionals. There'll be no rematch since Driscoll is in AA next year.
WATCH OUT FOR ST.RITA FOR THE NEXT YEAR OR 2 GREAT BALLPLAYERS ENROLLED AT THE SCHOOL
and which one is your son? i htink they have at least 4 pretty solid players.
No son there as of yet, will be a freshman next year.
Mike F, you know me too well....i am furiously scouting the MVC to see what lies ahead for the Redbirds....I can only hope they do as well as they should. They look tough at all positions. and some key players are going to be starting, i think. it is going to be fun to see some college ball but, back to the WSC. now, how can you NOT put LT up there as one the top teams? they did win the summer league, yes? they didn't lose anyone that i know of. and some of these sophs are going to suprise you. good luck to all the teams this spring. come on march...it cant come fast enough. ill be in Texas in the middle of Feb to watch the redbirds compete. and like i said before, i hope they play with some chemistry. they have an awful lot of talent there. how is your boy doing in his recruiting? is he signed yet? have a great new year all. see ya in the spring on the field.
sweaty.....Mike F.....

Sweaty, I wish you guys all the luck in the world...I hope you have a great season. I'm going to try to get to a game (Maybe at NIU?) and I'll look for you wandering around, working the crowd.

It's pretty hard to pick against LT (can you say "reload?"), but I actually think DGN has a chance to put up a pretty good fight this year. I like a lot of the returning guys and we'll get some pretty good help from the 08's (and maybe from the 09's).

Happy New Year to you and your family.

Boomer, you guys aren't opening your season at home? Just bustin' ya. I would love to be spending some time in FLA this March...but I'll wait my turn. Hopefully, in 2009, I'll be watching a few baseball games near some palm trees.
I wish you guys a great New Year and a super 2007. Give your son our best from the tropical Chicago area.
Mike F
