new set is out today.

We have some websters' offspring on their first real card.

I am getting me a Zink - a Bolt and of course - a mongrel.

I am sure there are more out there - lets hear it and see it!

Yeah baby!

You spend a good piece of your life gripping a baseball, and in the end it turns out that it was the other way around all the time. ~Jim Bouton, Ball Four, 1970

Ryan said they took some great shots and ended up using the one when he was getting dressed and not in complete uniform.

I say....

Deal with it buddy, because I'm so giddy I don't care what you're wearing. Besides I hear the Yankees are a little short on cash and not issuing pants and belts this year. Big Grin

All Ive seen are what's on ebay.

Even better than a card of Ryan is that my wife/twins, my brothers family, my 2 sisters families, my mother, and my grandmother, 25 in all, are getting together this weekend and we're having trading cards made of us dressed in our fantasy profession and guess who gets them as a stocking stuffer this Xmas. Nobody in my family gets an edge on any other and if you do it hovers over you like a black cloud. crazy .

I'm leaning toward a cross dressing cabaret dancer. I'll bet I still look good in fishnets and sequins.

Too funny, its and TPM.
This Thread is Way Cool! I can't imagine the thrill it must have been to see your Son on a Baseball Card for the first time. It is such a journey, and it moves so relentlessly on, it is important to stop every once in a while and remember where you have been.

We are looking forward to our Son's last High School season. Everyone says, "be sure to enjoy the ride". And it bears repeating often. It is so easy to get caught up in mundane everyday aspects of getting uniforms together, locating the cup and getting to the next showcase or practice. When I look back it has been an amazing ride for our family.

I can not imagine the view, that those of you who have Baseball Cards of your Son's must see, when you stop and take the time to remember those first Little League games and all the fun, failure and triumph that you have had the joy of experiencing with your loved ones. What a wonderful game Baseball is!
.

Anyone know where to buy the cards, or does Topps just send the player some? I went on EBAY tonight and got outbid something like 4 times for OfcrKID#1's card. One guy paid 12 bucks for a card, and being a novice... I "just got beat"...

Karl didn't even know they were doing one on him until several young kids sent him a letter (one on MySpace), asking if they sent him one, would he sign it and send it back?

But to affirm your remark... soooo kool... no real words describe how cool...

Where can you see the actual card? Did you all get one first, or did you get the image off the Internet?

Sorry to stary off the topic a bit. Does a lot, such as you are describing, consist of 20-30 cards of the same player? That's great for a parent or an obsessive fan. I wonder, how does the seller get these lots?

seeing your son on bubble gum cards, albeit without the bubble gum.
Originally the baseball cards were used to market the gum. Eventually the card collectors complained to the card companies the gum damaged the cards. I remember the gum being the equivilant of sugared up cardboard.

Does anyone remember any other places to get baseball cards? I remember cards were on the back of Post Oat Flakes boxes when I was a kid.

iitg is correct, watch for the card sold in lots, that's how we bought them, our right. The collectors buy hundreds of packages and break them up. You can email any collector and ask how many they have and buy them. You can only do this if it is to buy outright, we did that with DK's cards waited until auction was over and called the seller to buy them direct.
For auction, put it on watch and do not bid until the auction is just about over, because many of them just bid over what you want to drive the price up.

Funny thing, once they see activity, more cards will pop up. Smile

Let's let them know our players are HOT!

How cool is all this! Baseball epiphany!

A couple observations...

- OfcrKID#1 is going to have to work on that signature...you can actually READ it ferheavensake!

- With all due respects, great suggestions for ways to keep the cost down...but if it were my kid? Price would be no object! I'd put the cars on Ebay, refinance the house with sub prime loans, run up the credit cards, sell my soul to the Mitchell comission, trade for my Zepplin tickets, go get them in an ice storm, trade for my Farrah Fawcett poster collection, give up my rogaine...

Cool 44
