OB44,
Trade for your Zepplin tickets? Lets not go all the way off the edge, we do have lines we cannot cross

Now about the card signatures and maybe the others in the know can pipe in also. On the Left is Ryan's Topps/Bowman card on the right is what is called an "Auto Sweet Spot Card"that was recently released.

I think Topps/Bowman employees sign some of these player cards at the the "bring your kid to work" day. The sweet Spot card is an actual signature. However Ryan did not sign the ball, he said it probably came from a pre-game autograph. I asked how he knew that and he said "part of the signature is on the stitch and that is not the "Sweet Spot" and there's no way I would hit that". He does have an actual "autograph card" in packs where he had to sign and authenticate.

Does anyone know how Topps makes the decision on who gets chosen for their own card? Karl was one of two on his Rookie Ball team to get a card and I think there were only 5 Phillies chosen totally (of all the 2007 draftees). Is this a team decision or Topps'? And how do they make it? I've asked a number of people I thought would know... and all I got was that "deer in the headlights" look...

This is purely a financial decision made by the company and on the player's part. There are other card companies as well.
Not sure if your son has an agent, they usually get deals for the players from companies they deal with from card companies.
My son only putting in 4 innings decided not have a rookie card with Topps, Bowman he went with some new company and it was based on signature only.

How do they make what? Are you referring to making the card?

"And how do they make it?"

The decision on who gets a card with their picture on it? There were reportedly only 65 from Topps. How did Topps decide from 1500 Draftees, who to put on a card?

And... does anyone know about these cards being sold on EBAY? Some say Defractor, some say plates. Are they all just cardboard cards? Or are there larger print quality cards? Why chrome vs gold etc? And why are some sold as singles priced more than sets of 20 or 25? Can these be bought directly from Topps, instead of through these wholesalers?

Topps makes the decision. Could be from scouting reports, etc.

I just found out mine wasn't asked for Topps, he only played 4 innings and not considered a true rookie by those standards. My husband says they set high standards for who they choose for their cards.

Dealers buy them in sets then break them up to sell individually or in sets of the same player. Companies make more than one type of card nowadays or limited quantities.
One type of card being more expensive than the other.
Check this out - I am not one to hide my feelings - so what the hey.

I go on e-bay to check whats happening with the card thing.

There is one type of "refractor" card of my son - I think they only made 5 of them.

Current bid is $30 - for one card. LOL

I would sell them a picture of D in his diapers - for half that amount - LOL

This stuff doesnt even seem real.
I think some people are crazy. Really.
