TBS: We are also beginning to promote, sponsor and scout locations for a TBS National Showcase Series of tournaments.
We will be locking in venues that can accommodate multiple age divisions:
We have locked in the Midwest and are reviewing proposals from several organizations. The highlight of the Showcase series will be the TBS Tournament of Champions...Check out the TOC Tab for complete details and look at the roster of teams we have assembled. Each Elite Invitational will receive their own page on the Attn: Event Promotions 2007
I will send your comments regarding the Seminoles for review. There are many quality travel teams in the Illinois area, like any organization they have strong support from some and also fierce detractors. This is not unique to Illinois.
I am aware of Freshman players that have received letters from college baseball programs inviting them to camps and asking for questionnaires to be filled out. All within NCAA guidelines.
I do not consider myself an authority.
I care about kids and want to help them. I like the people running TBS, good group of guys working hard, nice cohesive structure that covers the entire country. Great potential to do some good!

Ibach, I can appreciate your thorough response. This is the kind of information that should be posted.
As far as the seminoles are concerned I am neither a supporter or a detractor, believe me if there is anything I can appreciate is the higher levels of the game, however I do value my name and what it is attached to. If it is going to be used it should be used with my permission.
hope everyone in this thread has a happy, healthy holiday season
Playball2 you have a pm!

Playball, i sent your info on the Seminoles for review. No one is familiar with your specific situation, probably because i forgot to ask your name and what team you coach or represent. Just don't know enough about this to comment but agree if someone is going to use your name to lend credibility to something they should ask and be granted permission.
The Seminoles dominated the local travel circuit for a couple of years. In the past two years we have seen the emergence of other powerful travel teams. The Dupage Diamondnbacks (Palmer & Maentenis) came on strong last summer winning several National events and placing high in others. The Berwyn Bulldogs with a great new young coach, Orland Sparks behind Dave Payton & staff, McHenry Hurricanes, Dupage Dragons (Mike Duckkhorn) have all built nice programs, so it is no longer dominated by one team. Bergen Beach is setting up teams outside New York, one in Illinois, Florida & Texas ( Texas also has an Area Code tie in & tryout). Illinois Bergen Team has Sam Sorce from Prairie Gravel and Pete Nazo on staff.
The travel programs mentioned all seem to offer the kids a nice off-season program as well.
You can check out www.TravelBallSelect.com for team & organizational profiles. We hope to do more high school coverage this year and highlight both Travel and HS ball.
To those interested and/or concerned:
I made an introductory call to a parent with the intent to introduce the program (Seminoles)to the player. Playball2 's name was mentioned as a former instructor for a facility we were both affiliated with (over ten years ago). His name was mentioned (dropped?) as a great coach and teacher of the game and this player would be fortunate to play for. I was making an unsolicited cold call to convey an interest by the coach of the Seminoles (Russ Gangler)in that particular player wasn't already affiliated with a summer program (outside of HS). It was made clear to the parents that the Seminoles are not affiliated with FVSA other than a good and valued customer, that Playball2 and the Seminoles are not affiliated with each other. The family and player in question have been in contact, and may be a fit for a successful fit. I've already pm'd playball2, apologizing, but making clear my intentions were to act as an independent party connecting both. As a business, FVSA networks at many levels, college, travel, instruction and all in the best interest of the families who we value as customers and in the development of the player.

The Schaumburg Seminoles organization has started their winter practice and training schedules in early December. The teams will be practicing strong all winter at Fox Valley Sports Academy, the Schaumburg SportsCenter, and at Play Ball USA. These facilites are some of the best in the state. The Seminoles have paid Coaches for each team in their program. Tony Turek with ties to Oak Park High School, Tom & Mick Matsie (Arlington Longshots) and Manager Russ Gangler have all proven to be successful coaches and will lead Seminole teams in 2007.
ElginKLU, thank you for the clarification, as always you rise above again. You are a class act and I am glad to be associated with you.

i think travel ball for kids before hs is a must, at least in my area. however, it has to be your childs decision. we never really thought about it until my son felt he wanted more when ll season was over. he started at 11u. they play between 50-60 games and start practice in dec. i agree you absolutely have to check out the coaches. just food for thought....my son started looking at hs in the area (he's in 7th grade)and every coach he met asked him what team are you on and do you play travel. ithink years ago not many played travel or club so everyone was on a even playing field sort of speak but now when so many kids play travel, if want to keep up with competition you need to do what you can. also, our fees are very low. our coach keeps them that way to be able to get who he wants and make it fair on families.
just when you thought it was safe..................
do you mean like you wanted to escape the 'travel thing'? i am new i thought i was answering a direct question. a mom asked about where or not being on a travel team made a difference as to weather or not a player made a hs team. but when i hit post i didn't see her question anywhere.....anyhow, i don't know know for sure i guess but just thought i'd throw my opinion out there about how things are different now than say ten years ago.
