The Trombly Baseball program has been very successful the last 2 years at the Connie Mack level. Last year we had 2 teams, Braves and Bulldogs, and they both won their respective leagues. The Braves went to the Connie Mack World Series and were the Runner-Up for the 2nd Consecutive Year. That is pretty good when you consider there are 1,500 teams around the country that play Connie Mack and for the Braves to get 2nd Place 2 years in a row is outstanding. The majority of players from these 2 teams have moved on to college.

Our 16U Cubs team from last year was a very strong group. They went 20-2 and were the Runner-Up at the 16U Mickey Mantle World Series. Their only 2 losses came at the World Series to the eventual winner. Again, there are 1,500 teams in the country that play 16U Mickey Mantle and we were the 2nd Place team.

For our program to be the Runner-Up in both the 16U Mickey Mantle and 18U Connie Mack divisions of AABC in the same summer was UNBELIEVABLE!

We have the majority of players back from last years Cubs team who are all 17U. In addition every player that we added to our program was 17U as well. Due to numerous factors it was decided that we are going to register our 2007 Trombly Braves team as a 17U team. We will play in an 18U Connie Mack League this summer and then will go to the 17U Playoffs and hopefully eventually to the 17U Connie Mack World Series. The American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC) started the 17U Connie Mack World Series last year and it was named the Don Mattingly World Series.

The Trombly Baseball organization will only be doing (1) team this summer. That team will be the 17U Trombly Braves. We did have a small amount of very talented 18U players in our program and we helped get these guys on other 18U teams. I knew that we could have organized an 18U team and had these guys play on it, but I fel that the team would be good, not great. I wanted what was best for the players so I helped them find other teams that would give them a chance to be on a GREAT team. I wanted them to have the opportunity to compete and have a chance to get to Farmington, NM for the 18U Connie Mack World Series. I believe that the guys are on teams that will give them this chance. In time, I will post what teams these guys will be playing on.

I am very excited about our 17U Trombly Braves group. I feel that we have put together THE BEST 17U TEAM IN THE COUNTRY. I know that we are going to have an exciting run at the 17U World Series this summer and then come next year will have everyone back and will compete for the 18U World Series. We have a great group of players and just as important they are a group group of guys as well. It will be an exciting 2 year run and I am excited to start playing.

Trombly Braves-13
Riverside Reds-8

The Braves improved to 2-0 in league and 7-1 overall on the summer. Our offense came out swinging and scored 5 runs in the 1st, 3 runs in the 2nd, and 4 runs in the 3rd. After 3 complete innings we were up 12-2. We had 13 runs on 14 hits, including 5 2B's.

Nick Ramirez-LHP/1B ('08 Katella/CSUF) went 3 for 4 w/ a 2B, 3 RBI, and 2 Runs Scored. He just missed hitting his 3rd HR in 2 games, as it had the distance but just missed the foul poul (330 ft) in left field at UC Riverside.

Austin Barnes-SS/2B ('08 Riverside Poly/ASU) went 2 for 2 w/ 2 BB's, 3 SB, an RBI, and 4 Runs Scored.

Derek Waldron-OF ('08 Canyon) went 2 for 3 w/ a 2B, 2 RBI, and 2 Runs Scored.

Adam Salazar-C ('08 Arlington) went 2 for 4 w/ 2 2B and 2 RBI.

On the mound we threw 4 different pitchers, 3 of them were sophomores. Kurt Heyer-RHP ('09 Edison) was our starting pitcher and threw the 1st 3 innings to get the win. Matt Hobgood-RHP/1B ('09 Norco) pitched the next 2 innings followed by Brooks Pounders-RHP/3B ('09 Temecula Valley) and Chris Amezquita-RHP/SS ('08 Servite/UCI) who each threw 1 inning.

The Reds haven't pitched too well the 2 times we played them, but they have a good team and can really swing the bat. It will be fun to watch these guys as the summer goes along.

Trombly Braves-1
Black Knights-0

This was a very good baseball game! Both teams played hard and the pitchers dominated the game. For the Braves, Aaron Gates-LHP/OF ('08 Orange Lutheran) started and threw the 1st 4 innings. He allowed 0 runs on 3 hits while striking out 7 and walking 0. Nick Torres-RHP/3B ('08 Edison) then came in and threw the final 3 innings. He allowed 0 runs on 2 hits and struck out 5 while walking 0. Torres picked up the Win in relief.

The game was tied 0-0 until the Top of the 6th inning when Austin Barnes-SS/2B ('08 Riverside Poly/ASU) doubled home Derek Waldron-OF ('08 Canyon) from second. Waldron led off the 6th w/ a 1B and finished the day 1 for 2 w/ a Run. Barnes was 1 for 3 w/ a 2B and an RBI.

Also offensively for the Braves, Ronnie Shaeffer-C ('08 Pacifica) and Adam Salazar-C ('08 Arlington) each went 2 for 3 while Bryan Stauffer-2B ('08 Diamond Bar) went 1 for 2 w/ a 2B.

The 2 pitchers for the Black Knights did a great job. They held our team to only 1 run after we scored 43 runs on Sunday in a doubleheader (27 runs in the 1st game, 16 runs in the second game). I know that the Black Knights were a very competitive 16U team last year and believe that they are mostly 17U. They have a talented group of players and we look forward to playing them again.

The Trombly Braves improve to 5-0 in league and 10-1 overall on the summer.
June 16th (Saturday)

Pierce Bily-INF/OF ('09 Orange Lutheran) went 1 for 3 w/ a HR.

We are really shorthanded this week w/ 5 players in North Carolina for the TOS, 2 players in Arizona for the JO's, etc and the guys that have been there are doing a great job. We still have 4 games left this week (we have 7 scheduled in 8 days!) and hopefully they can keep us winning until we get back to full strength.

summerballrules,
I apoligize if you are getting the wrong idea on this entire thread. My intentions are in no way to come on here and brag about our team. The fact is we have a very good group of young players and one of the things I provide for our players is exposure. I do my best at promoting my guys and this is one of the ways that I do it. You would be amazed at how many phone calls/emails I receive from college coaches throughout the country asking for more info on a player that they read about on a message board. The California college coaches see our guys all the time, but we do have several players interested in schools outside of California. These postings are an avenue that I use to get the word out on players on our team. In addition, in the past 4 years we have travled throughout the country w/ our team (New Mexico, Arizona, Washington, Atlanta, Texas, Florida, New York, etc) and have met a lot of people along the way. These message boards are a great way to stay in contact with people we have met and keep them informed on our teams progress and our players individual progress as well. Again, I apoligize if this thread comes across the wrong way to you or others. I can assure you that my intentions are good and the benefit our players receive is well worth it.

summerballrules,

Coming from SoCal I have had the opportunity to watch Trombly's teams from 2000 to 2005. He usually has great talent. He can recruit, no doubt. I beleive Cypress CC snatched you up to recruit at some point, right Trombly? I see what he is saying by posting, you got to get some type of promotion to go far. There are other programs out there just as successful as Trombly at getting players to the next level, ABD being my favorite. Nothing against you Trombly, I think Speirs is a heck of a coach.
The 1st time that the Trombly Baseball organization had a summer team was 2003. Therefore we have only had teams playing for 4 summers. This summer being our 5th. After our team got to the Connie Mack World Series where we were the National Runner-Up in 2005 (just our 3rd year of having a team) I was hired to coach at Cypress College where I was the Recruiting Coordinator. Coaching at Cypress College was a great experience and in 2006 we went 42-12 and went to the Final Four in Fresno. Last summer our Connie Mack team again went to Farmington for the Connie Mack World Series, where we were the National Runner-Up for the 2nd Consecutive year. Just before school started I was contacted by Coach Pickler, the Cypress College Head Coach, and told of what he felt was a great opportunity for me to teach and coach at Mt. San Antonio College. He was right and I was hired to teach in the PE department at Mt. SAC and I am also an Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator there.

Our website situation has been very frustrating. The bottom line is that it obviously has not been updated very well in the pst 2 years. I am continuing to look into better options to have our website kept current. In the mean time, I use the message boards to share info on our team.

Steve,
Julie has a significant monthly expense in running and maintaining this site. Using it, to the extent your are, to publicize your players and program, at Julie's expense really does not seem right.
If you want to pay Julie for posting about your players and teams, that would be great, and IMO, the right thing to do.
Otherwise, I think you should not take advantage of this free site, because it is only free to you. Julie is paying for your advertising and I do not think she should not be doing that.
