Marcus 7
Allen 5

Allen 0300020 550
MHS 0001123 870

Walk off 3run HR by T. Herriage in the bottom of the 7th to give Marcus the win.
HR: Herriage (2) Baker (1)

WP: Pitts
LP: Morganti

SP for Marcus was Baker
SP for Allen was Schueler

Puts Marcus, LHS and FMHS in a 3way tie leading up to the final district game on Friday. In the series LHS has won both games against FMHS, Marcus has split series with FMHS and LHS. So,,,,, what is the tiebreaker rules if we all 3 win on Friday????

Amarillo High - 1
Lubbock Coronado - 0

Amarillo owns the tie breaker over Coronado and will be the 1 seed, Coronado the 2, and Monterey the 3.

Frenship - 11
Big Spring - 5

Plainview - 4
Lubbock Estacado - 3

Andrews beat San Angelo Lake View

4-4A

Frenship 8-1
Andrews 8-1
Lubbock Estacado 4-5
Plainview 3-6
San Angelo Lake View 2-7
Big Spring 2-7

Big game Friday, Andrews at Estacado
7-5A

Cedar Hill 5
DeSoto 1

Duncanville 6
Lamar 3

Martin 21
Bowie 4

Arlington 19
Sam Houston 5

Martin is the District Champ.
Duncanville is 9-4 and has clinched a playoff spot.
Lamar is 8-5
DeSoto is 7-6

Any combination of a Lamar win and a DeSoto loss puts Lamar in. Our only hope is to beat Duncanville at Duncanville, and for Arlington to beat Lamar. This would force a playoff for 3rd place between Lamar and us since we split the season series.

wow -- it depends on the district bylaws -- they could be different for each district. One might argue that Marcus lost to Plano East -- why is that not factored in? -- they lost to a weaker opponent. From my perspective the districts should do everything possible to avoid a coin flip scenario -- telling a senior that his HS career is over because his AD called heads is tough.
I know there is at least one guy out there that reads this site that also knows the 8-5A bylaws. Maybe he will contribute here. In any case, it has turned out to be an exciting race.

H&U -- I didn't think I'd see your team in this situation....but I suppose I didn't expect to see my team in this sitation either. Smile

PD: your team was anything but a weaker competitor!!!! And congrats on the win last night............ applaude

Pantherdad,

Marcus losing to Plano East is not factored in becasue Plano East is not involved in the tiebreaker. When we break ties, we break them 1st with head-to-head games against the teams involved in tie-breaker.

Sure, each districts rules could differ slightly. But universally speaking, most tiebreakers are settled by starting with head-to-head record among the teams that are tied. If that is the case, then FM would be left out!

Believe me, I feel the pain of the team that is left out!
Word around here is that if Lewisville, Marcus and Flower mound all win friday night, Lewisville gets 2nd, Marcus and Flower Mound would then have a one game playoff(weather permitting) for 3rd. If the weather doesn't cooperate then 3rd will be determined by coin flip.

PD, I didn't expect us to be in this situation either a couple of weeks ago. However my take on it all is that if you can't beat the teams in your district, much less your town, when the game is on the line, advancing past the first or second round of the playoffs is pretty remote anyway.

Now is the time for FM either to step up or go home. Hopefully it's not too late.
Wow -- the criteria changes from a tie involving 3 teams to a tie involving 2. When Lewisville is taken out of the picture via their advantage in the 3-way tie, then the 2-teams-tied scenario is used.....and that involves a playoff if the teams split during the district season.

H&U -- I agree with your assessment regarding going deep into the playoffs -- execept when a team finds a little something extra as their new season starts.

Funny thing is....I think the region 1 "favorites" have all shown a degree of vulnerability in recent weeks. May baseball --- pitching is key! I like the consistency that Rowlett and Martin have displayed --- do they have enough pitching? The Mansfield studs have both lost recently -- but they'll be ready. It will be a fun time for those participating. Smile

Looks like Blake pitched a one hitter. Kid is a stud.

He struck out 15. The one gun that was there got him at 94 in the last inning. And he seems to be learning that being less flamboyant can be a good thing.
