Even though Raplh Kiner said, "Singles hitter drive Fords, home run hitters drive Cadillacs.", I'd much rather get on base and be fast. What good is hitting .270 when you could hit .400? The key question though, is how many runs does each guy score? That's the bottom line. It's kinda weird, I think, in basketball, the main stat is points, and in football, it's touchdowns. But not as many people care about socring runs in baseball. It's all about the basics for me, I guess.

Some of you guys need to read Moneyball. A great book that will certainly give you some insight on the world of baseball statistcs.
How do you win a game? score more runs than the other team. And every time you make an out you chances of scoring are dramatically decreased.
I could go on, but it would take a ******* essay and then some to explain it. But yankee clipper is by and large right on top of this one.
