NIC15, while I agree that genetics are important in reaching the upper-echelons (90+) in velocity, there is a lot you can do to get at least a mid-80's type fastball. Physical fitness, plyometrics, proper diet, sound mechanical instruction and a consistent long-toss program can combine to to help those that aspire.
But I agree with the part about dropping the gadgets. Towel drills, weighted or unweighted balls, etc. I think are a waste of time.
