SEC player of the week:University of Tennessee right fielder Michael Rivera was named the Southeastern Conference's Player of the Week after hitting .632 (12-for-19) and raising average from .282 to a team-best .397. He is currently batting .533 on a team-high nine-game hitting streak.
Tennessee's starters all are batting at a 300+ clip and the Vols head skipper says his 300+ hitters can go 12 deep in his roster this year. He's sees this as his best hitting squad ever.
He also noted that catcher Nick Crowe is throwing out baserunners at a better rate than any of the past Vol catchers.
