What do we do with all the bats that we all have now that do not meet the new standards? There is alot of money going in the trash.

What I would like to see is the bat makers buy back old bats to recycle them. They have all ready made a ton of money off these bats, so why not help the people back that made them the money.

Let me know what you thank.

The bat companies owe us nothing.....they did not change the rules on bat technology....that was the sports governing bodies....the NFHS and the NCAA....

The governing bodies state they delayed the implementation of the BBCOR change from BESR for 2 years so that the financial impact would be lessened........

all in all something had to be done to rein in the rocket launcher effects of the bat technology....

honestly not sure what could have been done differently....but I guarantee Ill be throwing bats out of the game next year when all the BESR bats are illegal.....
Some kids at our school (including son) are in an organization called Kids Gear for Kids and are collecting bats. A group of sophomores goes to the Dominican Republic for a week each September, works in the orphanage and plays sandlot baseball with the neighborhood kids every afternoon. Last year, they were able to take 30 duffle bags of gear, mostly for little kids, including giveaway mitts donated by the Padres. This group also ran bake sales all fall and were able to donate $500 to the local league to help build a nice backstop. I was told it was like Christmas. The one group of kids that was left disappointed, however, were the older kids who need better stuff than what is typically donated. PM me if you are interested in donating bats and are anywhere near San Diego.
Your local boys and girls club could use them. Leftyside Son started a clinic for our local club. Every year he'd gather up used baseball equipment and bring them over to the boys on the day of the clinic. You would have thought it was Christmas in April when he showed up with the boxes and the boys all got to play with their "new" bats. Gloves are also a huge need.

But be mindful...somewhere along the line we donated his first pitching glove. That was a mistake.
