FO - You got it half right, half the people I know left the other half stopped posting in fear of being dog piled by the faithful if they disagreed with them....the half that remain just lurk.

As for the playoffs,

I'll step up:
EP Franklin beats Lubbock Mont.
Ab Cooper over FTW Paschal
Weatherford over Odessa
EP El Dorado in 2 over Amarillio
Arl Martin in 2 over Irv Mac
Arl Lamar over SGP - Arnsberg wins his game...sorry Rick

EP Montwood over Am Tascosa
Mansfield over Abilene
Midland in 2 over Man Summit Smile
EP Socorro over Lubbock
Grapevine and Flower Mound tie Smile
LD Bell over Duncanville
Jesuit beats Arl
Keller just barely over Lewisville...take Lewisville and the points...if Leranth could start two games Lewisville might win.

Houston Lamar over H Mac
H Bellaire in 2 over H Nimitz
Atascotia over North Shore and then they beat Alvin who beats FT Bend Dulles.

ELkins over Pearland
Clear Lake ove Clements

N Mes in 2 over Skyline
Tyler Lee in 2 over Adams
Klien Collins over Oak Ridge
Spring KCollins over Woodlands College Park

Longview over Molina

I am sure I must have a few people who disagree with my bracket selections. Please tell us why so we can learn more about your favorite teams.

Upsets
Hebron over SLC (Hebron played Martin tough)
Colleyville Hertigage over Coppell

5A
Martin over McArthur
Lamar over SGP
Jesuit over Arlington- just a feeling

Coppell over Colleyville
Southlake over Hebron
Grapvine over Flowermound
Keller over Lewisville

Rowlett over East
Allen over Lakeview
Wylie over Rockwall

Upset special- South Garland over West. Plano West is over rated and due to lose a game.

4A
McKinney over Forney
HP over Frisco

You got any money you want to lose on that feeling??? Cool

Well here's the way I see it. Martin and West have the best pitching in 5A, so it makes sense that they will lose in the first round. Also, I would like to add Poteet to my list of early exitees, for they are too well represented on this forum, ergo Teddy Nowell quits baseball to become a Friar.

Do I have any followers? Some of the best logic I've ever seen on this board Smile

You obviously know nothing about Region 1 5A, especially the teams out west.
Big Red--might get lonely out there on that limb so be careful just how far you climb out there. Frankly, I just hope HP can keep from being embarrassed. Any team can beat another on any given day. SOOO anything is possible. However, HP is as talented as any team around. The question becomes if they can pull together and overcome some side issues. If they do and get on a roll they might give the Raccoons a run for their money.

P1---gotta agree that PHS is THE team to beat and I don't care where in the state you look. Just sorry that the re-alignment has eliminated a great baaseball battle twice a year between HP and PHS.
5A
Martin over McArthur
SGP over Lamar (Upset? Not so much. Can't say I've seen Arlington play, but Felts is good, and SGP can hit. Great Chemistry)
Arlington over Jesuit- Heads. All depends who picks up the first game, which is at Arlington, so I have to give them the early edge, but don't count out Dtiger, Zach Walker, and company)

Coppell over Colleyville
Hebron over Southlake (a previous poster convinced me of this Smile)
FM over Grapevine (Haven't seen either of these last four teams play, but I've heard enough to take a guess)
Keller over Lewisville

Rowlett over East
Allen over Lakeview
Wylie over Rockwall

Does West really have the best pitching in 5A?

From what I have seen, yes. Would you argue Wylie or someone outside of the greater dallas metroplex?

I'll use stats. 5 guys with ERA's under 2.5, 4 under 1.8, 3 under 1.5. This against some very, very good teams.

If you go by the numbers Wylie and Coppell stack up with both PW and ARLM. I am sure other teams around the state might have better or just as good numbers but they just haven't really looked at how they stack-up.

I'd say Plano West has the best, with Martin right behind. Big Grin

I thought we wre talking about pitching staffs? Plano West gave up 42 runs in District play, Coppell only gave up 19, unfortunately 10 of those came in the last two games. Arl Martin gave up more total runs then either PW or Coppell but they did hold their district to 22 runs. I do think the seniors on PW give them an advantage in the playoffs.

Overall Plano West is a dominate team and deserves the number 1 ranking and the respect the team earned with solid pitching and great hitting and I bet they have good defense too.

My point was that there are a lot of good pitching staffs around but I don't think any one of them is dominate and with the runs Plano West allowed they might not be "best" in 5A.

Comparing pitching staffs with stats is not fair!!! All teams being compared are from different districts play on different fields (wind blows in or it blows out) have different umpires etc. This post is trying to compare apples to oranges, mars to venus, zebra and a horse.....................

Oh, why did you not include Rowlett and Southlake. Rowlett is better than teams listed other than maybe PW. I think Southlake is better than teams listed and will get to prove itself vs. the Coppell district right off the bat.

Exactly my point dodger thank you for re-enforcing my point. My post was never about Coppell, I just used a point of reference I know well. I think Rowlett and Southlake must have good pitching to be where they are as well but I think Hebron has a couple of boys that have put together solid years as well and will be a test for Southlake. Just like Colleyville will test Coppell, a match-up that looks dead even going in.
