All the press releases called the pitch a passed ball---looks my like a wild pitch to me !!! The catcher never touched the ball
Here is the latest in the story. Even if some here don't see the difference in hitting an official, others do.

Jeff: I played for the Indiana Bulls, Midland Redskins and I also played for Wichita State. The last two are well-respected throughout the nation. The Bulls throughout the midwest. Everything I speak about is part of the game of baseball.
How can you say there are no good teams from Indiana? The Bulls are one of the top teams in the midwest.

That made my day.

outstanding.........absolutely outstanding.......since the vast majority of all ballplayers never play professionally, its refreshing to see a college coach who puts ethics and character in the fore front.........
Hats off to the coach who apparently is a man of principle, character and guts.
If it was intentional what makes young players today even think about doing it?
FYI -- the catcher of the Stephens County, GA team had his invitation to join a college baseball team rescinded. Ethan Martin, who according to reports complained throughout the game and is the brother of the pitcher who threw the pitch that hit the umpire, was the 15th player selected in yesterday's first year players draft.
I'm really glad to see this because you see too many examples of "good" kids who make mistakes and don't suffer any consequences. People need to realize that when you mess up there are consequences and you have to pay them. Doesn't matter if it's the first time or the hundreth time you mess up.
Has the umpire came out and said anything about what he felt about the whole thing?

The umpire and his board are not saying anything until all the legal councils get done with it. I assume, a dangerous thing, they are looking to see if there will be any lawsuits before they make a statement.
Glad to see that the College coach has integrity!!!
