I felt badly for the players but so happy that the Utes beat Saban, you know we here in South Florida just hate that guy. Hear that he is letting some NFL teams court him, someone offered him 10M?

Congrats to the Utes, but I still go by who plays who and conference regardless of W-L record.

Back when Nebraska lost a close one to Tech, Bo Pelini (Nebraska's Coach, ex-LSU defensive coordinator) told a reporter he was nuts thinking the big 12 was stronger than the SEC. Everyone popo'd him them. He doesn't look so stupid today after the Cotton Bowl dismantling does he?

Ole Miss looked pretty good and Tech looked like the Tech of old.

Party in Salt Lake! Milk shakes on the house! The system agreed to didn't place Utah in the championship game even if they are the best team. In the current system I'll give them #2.

While I was rooting for them, I wonder if they could compete on a week, in week out basis in a major conference and go 13-0. I was waiting for someone to hug two players after the game and say "These two Utes ...."

It is the ultimate silliness - this BCS nonsense. I saw ESPN announcers suggesting this morning that team's like Utah may need to be considered for the national championship in the future Roll Eyes

I'll be honest, Utah impressed the cr-ap out of me. Their defense was very impressive having perhaps some NFL speed on it. I don't think Alabama respected them and they indeed paid the price.

RE: USC - They probably have more NFL players on their team than any other in the country. Their coach needs to get them to play every game like the Rose Bowl however. This year it was Oregon State who Penn State handled easily and last year it was Stanford. Win the games you are supposed to, and you will have a chance to win the last game. Three years ago in 2005, when they did have the "home field advantage" in the national title game, they came up short against Texas. Talk is cheap.
The main game isn't till Thursday night, but I think that two teams, Utah and USC, can make one heck of a claim that the winner on Thursday night shouldn't be the automatic champion. This year's bowl games have made as strong an arguement in favor of a playoff as there has ever been.

Congratulations to the Utes, 13-0 is an incredible accomplishment.
The Utes (/juːts/; "yoots") are an ethnically related group of American Indians now living primarily in Utah and Colorado. There are three Ute tribal reservations: Uintah-Ouray in northeastern Utah (3,500 members); Southern Ute in Colorado (1,500 members); and Ute Mountain which primarily lies in Colorado, but extends to Utah and New Mexico (2,000 members). The name of the state of Utah was derived from the name Ute.

Maybe they get away with it since the state is named after the tribe. Imagine the NCAA telling the University of Utah they have to change the name of their school. Smile

The mascot is a hawk called Swoop. "The University of Utah, the Running Utes, changed their mascot this past week. The Utes were a Native American tribe in the area. The mascot was changed to a red tailed hawk. Utah kept their nickname and logo with the feathers draped from the "U" - (1996)

Umm.. Illinois--->Illini ?? That's apparently "offensive"

I also go to a school (Southeast Missouri State) who recently made the change from being the Indians to the Redhawks. It's been about 4 years now I guess, but you still see the Indians logo around campus occasionally.

There is currently a big push to make the campus very much full of "Redhawk Spirit" but without money being pumped into it, things aren't going to change too well...

So back ontopic:

I want to see Florida and Oklahoma play before I could decide a National Champion. USC needs a stronger conference schedule if it wants to be a contender for a National Championship year in and year out. I just don't think the Pac-10 is all that strong top to bottom...
I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE NEXT WEEKS GAME BETWEEN THE WINNER OF FLORIDA / OKLAHOMA AND UTAH. IT'S GOING TO BE AWESOME.........Oh wait a minute. They still don't have a playoff system in place. Never mind.

I'm going to say Florida beats Oklahoma and the final rankings will be

1. Florida
2. USC
3. Utah
4. Oklahoma

I think we need to lighten up on USC some. The PAC 10 is better than people think. They went 5 - 0 in bowls with Arizona beating a tough BYU (not real impressive but it was a game they should have won and did), same thing can be said about Cal over Miami. But Oregon beating a very tough OK State is impressive. I don't know what to say about the Oregon State and Pitt game at 3 - 0 but a win is a win. Then you wrap up with USC really flat out dominating Penn State.

If anything this bowl season goes to show that the ACC and the (not so) Big 10 are jokes.

Coach, explain why you left Texas out of your top four and kept Oklahoma ahead of Texas, even with their second loss. Confused

Well Danny, it's a very plain and simple reasons ............ I forgot about them. I can't believe I did that.

With all the information at hand now I will say it goes

1. Florida
2. USC
3. Texas
4. Utah
5. Oklahoma

Coach, are you sure you're talking about football? I thought this same line of thinking went to baseball, only you can substitute the SEC for Big 10. Our western conferences, especially the Pac-10 and Big West, never get the respect they earn. Western Conferences just win college world series titles!

And regarding the Penn State win, neither was the Big Ten. I could have won a lot of money betting on USC. I told all my Penn State friends SC would smoke them. But I can't even hold my nose and root for SC for the sake of winning bets. I'm settling for a passive "told you so."

Congrats to Utah they had a great season and beat a very good team in the Sugar Bowl. But here is my problem with them getting a share of the NC. They play a schedule that many teams in the nation would end up undefeated with. Then they play one game to remain undefeated. Would USC be undefeated right now playing Utah's schedule? Would Florida? Would Texas? Would OU? How many other teams would have been 12-0 playing Utah's regular season schedule? When they start playing the same type of competition the entire year and then they go undfeated I will believe.
Michigan - worse mich team I have ever seen
UNLV
Utah State
Weber State
OSU 31-28
Wyoming
Colo State
New Mexico
TCU 13-10
SDSU
BYU
Alabama 31-17

Now seriously take a look at that schedule.
Now go take a look at the schedule USC , OU , Texas and Florida played. I know OSU beat USC. But if Utah had to play tough teams week in and week out someone would have def gotten them. And I would bet more than once.
