I have been gone for too long and I miss this place and all the wonderful friends I have met online. I have been lurking from time to time but usually don't have much that is constructive to add to the discussions.

None the less, I do like following the sons of the posters and realize that there are so many that have been drafted since I tried to keep track back in 2007, 2008, and 2009 (down the page a ways). I remember trying to make a list in 2010 but there seemed to be more friends of posters than their sons getting drafted and I couldn't keep up. By 2011 I was busier than I had been with work and was chasing my son around the Carolina League.

I always loved reading the new additions to the Please Identify Your Son thread and checked in to the hard-to-find list of posters and sons that seemed like it went back to the first days of HSBBW. Please let me know if that page made it to the new website during the conversion. In the latter's apparent absence, I would like to propose a replacement for those whose sons have Gone Pro. A similar thread for those who have gone on to play College Ball would be appreciated.

I think posting a link to the MiLB or MLB page that features your son would be great.  I also love seeing photos and baseball cards featuring the sons of HSBBW.

Here is what I have regarding my son, Tim Melville.

He was drafted out of high school in 2008 by the Kansas City Royals and is currently playing AA ball for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in the Texas League.

I like this card. It is from a couple of years ago. It is still awesome to see our last name on a uni.

Have Fun!!!

I infrequently browse HSBBW these days, but often think of the connections I had here with the wonderful and intelligent HSBBW members. It was a lot of fun and kept me from going crazy while I was overseas and my son was developing in the states. I am disappointed that this thread never took off since there are more than a few of our sons in Pro Ball and I would love to see where their paths cross.

That said, here is what my guy has been up to. Early in his fourth season (2012), Tim suffered a broken finger on his throwing hand and after recovery, a week before the AFL commenced, some tenderness he felt led to TJ surgery. After a full season at Double-A in 2014, The Royals decided not to renew his contract and released him at the end of the season.

The Tigers offered him a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training. He is currently in Lakeland and loving it. As always, I scour the internet and found this photo of Tim along side of Justin Verlander doing drills. It is so great to see him still living his dream.

You Florida folks sure know how to rub that warm weather and sunshine in our faces! ARGH.

Here is the view from my front porch just above Atlanta. Expecting somewhere around 4" of this stuff. The broken limb is from the ICE storm we had just LAST week where I and countless of thousands more were without power, water, TV, heat, INTERNET, for 3-4 days.

Thanks Floridafan! Just what I needed to hear today!

David spent two seasons with the Tigers, he actually liked Lakeland very much. The ballpark is old but rather quaint, and he liked the idea of the cafeteria and the dorms.  Cost him nothing for spring training except the extra food he kept in his room.

If Tim heads off to AA, be forewarned, it doesn't thaw out in Erie, PA until May.  Its REALLY cold.

Best of luck to him, I am happy to hear that he is still living his dream.

Thanks for the compliments and wishes.

Today, we got our third snow since last Tuesday. First, it was maybe 9", 7" (on Saturday so that doesn't really count) and a couple more today. Certainly nothing like New England, but you would think otherwise as everything was so quick to shut down today.

Tim is on the AAA Toledo roster and will pitch there unless he gets on the 40 and joins the big team. Still, it's probably not much better than Erie.
