As always, there are some good ones. My problem with them is they don't stand up against the ones wasting kids time. Watch them everytime someone says something bad about the bad ones.

I understand your point of view and I know what you are talking about. I was coached by a coach that only helped a select few of his prized players but I have no hard feelings about it but it doesnt mean that ever coach is like that. I have seen many coaches stand up and say something bad about another coach but thats all that can be done, nothing else can be done until the school board decides to get rid of the bad coach. I coach youth baseball and have been coaching for 7 years now and I know alot of coaches that shouldnt be out there coaching and I am a board member and have expressed my views plenty of times but until their is a majority against those certain coaches, then nothing will be done and alot of times it is based on politics and the good ole boy syndrome. I think alot of the time, especially around here in Mississippi the baseball coach is the football coach and that spells trouble right from the get go because he is not going to care about the baseball team. In closing, I dont think that alot of the coaches are the way you perceive them. I think alot of the ones who come to this board are here to gain more information so that they can further help their players succeed. I know one of my goals is to have colleges come and look at my players no matter the division of the college plus I will make sure my players are making the grades. I believe if we will learn that baseball is a combined teaching arena, then we will be better off.

Let me see if I'm getting this straight.

You know how they are hired - throughout the USA?

Tell me - how are they hired in New York - or Ohio - or North Carolina - or California.

Run down the list of the thousands of high schools across the USA - and give us your critique - with specifics please.

Please also be specific as to which coaches - among the thousands - do not care about baseball excellence.

Lastly - how do you find the time to travel all over the USA and do this research. It is truly remarkable.

Just pure nonsense - I've had enough for one evening - or maybe even one month for that matter. LOL
Scooter, so you admit there are bad High School Coaches........So, why get upset when someone talks about them?......They're out there and they deserve to be talked about......Parents need to be aware that they exist.....It's important.....Of course, there are good High School Coaches, also.....What's important is to know the difference......

Yes, I do but I also think there are bad apples in any profession. They may need to be talked about but not as a generalization as you and Teacherman do. If you are going to talk about bad coaches name them by name don't put all of the high school coaches into one and thats why I and others have gotten upset. It has nothing to do with your views or ideas about coaches, it has to do with the overall generalizations by placing all coaches into the same category. If you want parents to beware of bad coaches let them know the names of the coaches but I have a gut feeling that is not how it is discussed between you and the parents of the players you teach but I may be wrong.

".....but I may be wrong."

Scooter, you are wrong......The only time I have a problem with a Coach is if he tells one of my students to hit a different way than what I taught them......Then, we really have a problem because I know the Coach does not know a better way for my student to hit......If they did, I would know they did.....
