It looks like a winter wonderland here in ATL. Guess the first game of the season will be postponed, and maybe the second too. Sigh.

We even have close to 8 inches of snow in Memphis and my kids were in shorts day before yesterday playing in the yard.

It was 60 something in Philadelphia mid week. It's supposed to snow ten inches tonight and be 12 tomorrow night.

Stepped outside yesterday evening about 10:00PM to check on the snow ----- 12 inches here in Jackson, TN!! Supposed to be sunny and 70 by Thursday!

Oh yeah, that's my F-150 with the wiper blades "flipped up".

When I moved here from southern CA people would ask if I was afraid of earthquakes. My response was a lot more people die shoveling snow than in earthquakes.

I've already been out three times to shake the snow off the batting cage. It's sarting to taper off some now. We got about 6 inches here in the upstate.

it kinda feels good knowing us northerner's aren't the only ones with snow. i really do feel bad for you southerners getting snow, it can wreak havoc in those places not used to it.

shoveling snow is hard work,and hard work never hurt anyone..........but why chance it. be careful.

I went by the HS field today and the cages have been totally wrecked by the wet snow.

Rub it in, 55mom . We still have 15" of ice on the Lakes, the roads are stained with salt, and the weather related potholes will eat a small car.

Well, It is a nippy 50 and sunny this morning. Today's high will be 69. This is why I live here.

Who shovels snow in the south? They don't even sell those shovels here. We buy all the milk and bread in the stores, bunker in, and wait for the stuff to melt-- the way God intended it to be.

You would not believe how many accidents there were in North Carolina yesterday It was the most hazerdous of all driving conditions with freezing rain turning to snow and the temperature locked at 32 degrees. I am thankful we made it out of there without mishap. Unbelievable bad day in the south yesterday. Feels good to be back in sunny Cleveland and our cozy 15 degree temperatures

Those drivers in North Carolina have a reputation for losing it every once in a while...

Natives know that the sand and salt budget is next to nothing. After all, we might go several years with out having to spend anything. and then Boom! Usually the problem, like you experienced, is ice. Can't drive on that. Glad you got home safely.

For those who may not have traveled there, North Carolina is one of the most beautiful states with some of the very best roads in the country. It was just a bad day yesterday and as noted, those type of days happen very infrequently.

I would just like to say thanks for all of these wonderful posts. We had a rough weekend, also. Played a tournament and we all got a nasty sunburn. I have my raccoon eyes going already and my wife looks like a candy cane with her lovely red stripes.

Just don't ask about the summers.

Did the kids go to school today in Jackson? All Memphis and Shelby County schools did. I noticed Tipton and Fayette county did not-just wondering about you guys? This is the first time my three have seen this much snow but wished it had fallen Sunday so they would have been out of school!!
Son is going to Dyersburg State in the fall to play ball and we told him between tornado's and ice they never seem to be in school-

My kids were sliding on garbage can lids. We have no snow shovels, sleds, snow boots, etc but we sure made it to the grocery store to "stock up" ha ha
My husband is from Michigan and he just laughs at me when I even hear of flurries and go quickly to the grocery store!!! Must be a Southern thing!!!

Our side of town was predicted for 8-12. I'm guessing we got six. The storm never appeared to be as intense as expected. 1-2 inches an hour was predicted. It didn't snow that hard.

There's another board regular, fillsfan, who lives on the side of the city who was supposed to get hit harder. The prediction for the other side was up to fourteen inches.

It was a coastal storm. I live twenty-five miles further inland.

No practice here. Actually the day or two of "northern weather" is a blessing for many "southern boys". It gives some the much needed down time to recuperate from daily throwing from a season that has already started. Those that need additional long toss engage in snow ball fights. Being a former Ohioan/West Virginian that relocated to Tennessee I do enjoy a good dusting of snow now and then. However my enjoyment will be short lived as the 12 inches we had Saturday evening (the most in 40 years) is quickly leaving and by this weekend we'll be in the mid 70's. I guess seeing the saucer magnolia trees blooming and the yellow buttercups everywhere against a backdrop of drifting snow is a contrast that few get to see. Beautiful! I see where Cleveland, OH will also be basking in springtime temps with a predicted high of 49 on Saturday!

Our boys are inside again today and like Fungo said it is supposed to be in the 70's this weekend. This was also supposed to be our big week of cleaning, pulling weeds, cleaning concession stand, etc. to get ready for first game March 9th-still snow on the ground today and will be nasty wet when it melts. Boys are pumped up though-their first game is against Bartlett and it is on our home field.

We are supposed to have the mid 60's here in central VA on the week-end. Unfortunately it is too late to melt all of the snow we have to have our scrimmage on Friday. It's hard to melt the snow when it's still in the 20's. We have managed 2 outdoor & one indoor practice. Some of the teams had scrimmages in the mixed precipitation, wind & 30 something degree temp. on Saturday. They say it was hard to tell if they were good or bad....

It must be the GLOBAL WARMING !!!!

It is easier to laugh about GW than to take it seriously. I do the same thing. For now it means strange local weather patterns. I guess we have to get used to it.

What we need (as least temporarily) is for Krakatoa to explode again.
