Have more then one wood bat in your bag.

Consultant (aka Bob Williams of the Goodwill Series ) Son Rob Williams is the SSK bat rep. for the Majors.
You can contact them.
MaxBats are good, Old Hickory, Louisville Slugger C271 model.
Maple or Ash.
Maple is suppose to be harder then Ash.

They all will break if hit wrong.

Remember how I said a couple weeks ago that my new High School players would start training with wood and only use aluminum for games? These guys have busted SIX bats in two hitting sessions. It's incredible. They had/have no clue about how to hold wood and how to use the sweet spot. Even after showing them numerous times....crack, crack, crack.....it's mind-boggling. They just go out there and want to club everything to death, with no regard for WHERE on the bat they're hitting the ball. All raised on straight aluminum, never held wood. It's a hard row to hoe trying to get them to change and use some finesse, but I hope they'll come around soon. Fortunately, a generous soul has sponsored us for a dozen new wood bats which should arrive next week.

This is my long-winded affirmation of theEH's saying, "They all will break if hit wrong." Too true!!

One of my sons has been using the RSP bats from Probats.net and hasn't had one break yet. The other son is using bats from Carolina Clubs, wwww.carolinaclubs.com, also without breakage. Both are maple and the pricing is really good. RSP lets you customize color, which is pretty cool if you happen to like bright blue bats with bright red handles, silver bats with white handles, etc.
Hit with wood. Any wood!! Don't worry about the grain or brand because if your not getting paid to play, your probably won't be getting the best lumber anyway.

None of that stuff matters, just get a couple wood sticks and learn to hit with them. If you can learn to drive the ball with wood, your results with ballistic composites will be off the charts.

I like hitting with wood if you couldn't tell.
Akedema? Any experiences? son's wood bat just cracked apart. Very cheap but yet expensive 59.00 or so not including tax and shipping. I think total was 71.00 all together. Do you guys think that if I call Akedema they would give us another one. What a piece of junk!!! Purchased it on the 8th of January.

It was the A510 Elite Professional Grade.
