I did not see a lot of really high MPH guys this weekend. I heard that Stetson Allie hit 97 while air mailing the backstop in a very wild and ineffective outing. Another kid I heard also hit 97 with better results. I saw one or two low 90's guys though I'm sure there were more. I was surprised at how few pitchers really got over 85, though.

Play9, not to worry. If you're with the Prospects I'm sure folks are following you. And lefties throwing mid/upper 80's don't grow on trees.
Thanks MidloDad. I've been with the Prospects for 2 years and the coach has always said I'm his go to guy when we need to win, I even threw a 4 hit shutout against East Cobb in last years WWBA Underclass that we won, but I still haven't gotten any offers. I just can't gigure it out. The Prospects coach says I need to be high 80's and I'm just not there yet. Who knows? It is very frustrating!I throw harder in the 6th than the 1st and w/ the Prospects I usually only throw 2 innings unless we advance, which hasn't happened much this year so I think that is problem.
I see you're a relatively new poster, so I would suggest you review some of the recruiting threads that are on here. Lots of good suggestions and lots of different paths to success detailed there, if you have time to sift through a few of them.

I don't know where you're looking or how you've gone about it, but while high 80's would be wonderful, it's not required. It may depend on where you have your sites set, though. What I'm thinking is that you may want to get some new perspectives on how to go about getting yourself recruited (as opposed to waiting from someone to come beg you to commit) and where you should be looking. I'm not being critical here because I have no way of knowing what you have or haven't done, or what your grades are etc. I'm just saying you may find some gold in the wealth of information that's available on here -- something that strikes you as something you could do to help yourself.

Having sat through one full season in the stands in ACC play, I can tell you that plently of mid-80's lefties make it to the ACC, which is considered one of the premier conferences. In mid-majors a guy like that is coveted.
Thanks for your suggestions MidloDadI am on berecruited and have stayed in touch with mostly Fl schools, along with Louisville, Ole Miss and College of Charleston. I think I may have made a huge mistake by setting my sites too high and not expanding my options earlier. My Travel Ball team changed coaches a little and I don't think they did much if any proactive things like calling coaches, etc for us. They thought we would be followed because of the name, and that was partly true, but only for the gig guns. A lot of us got lost in the shuffle.I had a great HS year last year and should have a better one now. A Lot of colleges come to our area in the spring to play and I will contact them too. I haven't been on here long but I am sure learning. Thanks to you and everone else for the help
One thing I found useful was to get a copy of the annual U.S. News guide to colleges. It's only about $10. Use it to identify colleges that would fit for you academically, then go through those and see which ones have baseball programs that you think are on your level.

Then YOU contact THEM, don't wait to be discovered.

When your PG profile gets updated, you'll have an objective source to cite to them to help them get interested in you without their having to wait until spring to see you pitch again.
I think I was the best pitcher that game that day but I didn't even make the blog. My dad asked the guys how hard I threw 20 minutes after I pitched and they actually looked at the gun then- 20 minutes later! My dad said they were talking most of the time and not really paying attention because my Velocity wasn't high 80's. We see this all the time. They gun a few pitches then figure he's not a prospect he doesn't throw hard enough, even though it's the 1 st inning and don't bother to gun the 2nd inning.
Dont worry about the gun readings. If your not a high 80's guy then your just not a high 80's guy. There are plenty of young men pitching at the college level that dont throw at that level. You have to market yourself to the people that are looking for a product that matches what you bring to the table. There is a great showcase on Nov 21st at Lander University in Greenwood SC. Its a D2 program that will be looking to sign players based on their performance at their showcase. There will be several other schools in attendance. The cost is a whopping 50 bucks , they feed you and you get a nice t shirt for coming. Go to this event and see what happens. PM me with your name and some contact information and I will call Coach Anderson and tell him your on the way and to bore in on you while your there.

Dont worry about the stuff you can not control. If you can pitch , if you can get guys out , thats all you need to be concerned with. Good luck

Play9, I was at the game and thought you did a fine job. Keep working hard and you will get the offers you are looking for. If you figure out what scouts are looking at and for, please let me know! I am right there with you scratching my head too as are many others. I know some of these well known players are hot commodities, but these guys can only play at one place.

On a side note, PG did a great job putting on this event. The scouting turnout was tremendous. The scheduling was flawless even with a slight rain delay. This was truly a great opportunity for so many players.

Stay at it Play9! You will be successful.
PG has the gun readings recorded, trust me on that. They may not remember them even a few minutes after the game because those guys do so many games that they all run together after a while. But if you check your PGX profile when the event info gets posted in maybe early December, it'll be there.

Check your ranking then, too, as it may move up.
Thanks again. Coach may is there a website that I can see what the showcase is? I really don't wory too much about the gun. I am what I am! I know when I bat I don't feel there is that much difference between 85 and 90. But when you get around 92 and up there is a huge difference. I have been to a lot of PG events and they are the best run tournaments I have ever been too. In Marrietta there was 192 teams and the games were played like clockwork. PGStaff and his guy's do a great job.Like I said before if anyone out there is wondering if their kid should go to Jupiter next year-the answer is YES!!
Maybe you should take the initiative and contact those guys you wish would take interest.

Tell them about your successful outing and ask if they had a chance to see it.

Ask what you could do to pursue discussions with them about their program.

Take care to avoid any comments that could come across as negative, hurt, feeling neglected, etc.
