Re: 2014 Anxiety

WallyL ·
I do remember the other OF that FSU signed that year, Shane Robinson...had a HUGE career with the Seminoles and now plays in the big leagues with the Cardinals (I think Shane was a fifth round pick out of FSU, maybe in 2006). I was remiss not to mention that FSU was always Chris' first choice but, going through the process for the very first time a decade+ ago and knowing very little at that point, I was intent on Chris taking several official visits that fall before he made up his mind; in...

Re: What do you say?

Will ·
We are all far from perfect. But in my experience around the game I have come across some parents that push push push. And it affects the kid in a negative way. No we do not want to sugarcoat things but sometimes their is a line we cross. What if your kid goes o-4 ks with the bases loaded twice and has 2 errors? How do you as a parent approach that? Get all over him etc etc? I have seen that and it is not pretty. A kid is exposed at that at 9 and 10 and pretty soon he gets tired of that and...

Re: Interesting article on young pitchers and arm injuries.

windmill ·
As stated, it comes down to proper mechanics [and also if a youngster's anantomy at the time will withstand the stress]. I think the main point is this: Why jeopardize a kid's health and future?? So you can win some mythical state championship that are a dime a dozen? How many HS or collge coaches give a rat's behind what your record or BA was when you were 12?? The problem with the article is that most of the guys out there coaching think they are smarter than the "real experts" and will...

I may just be a little ol' shortstawpmom from Kansas, but I for one am getting upset about a current posters son's name continuing to be brought up in this forum. Regardless if its never been the intention of others to put him in a negative light or not. I have wondered as to why this thread has not been locked yet and then it dawned on me that alot of the conversation going on here is going on by many of the moderators themselves. I am going to be honest here and go out on a limb. Please...

TR first of all I know way more about Duke baseball program than you do. Used to work in the athletic department at Duke before Hiller was there. HIller got the job because he was friends with the AD certain not because of his record at UNC Asheville, He had a losing record there too. They had no problem recruiting top talent at Duke. A top academic college and playing in the ACC and easy sell for any parent. Plus if you can get into Duke, you gonna get all kind of academic aid to attend...

Only a fool wouldn’t want to look to see if he can find improvements to what he does. That’s the main reason I’m looking at it. Another reason is, when someone discusses scoring programs, I don’t like being totally ignorant about what they’re doing. I know that, and its why I’ve been a strong supporter of it. In fact, when I 1st heard about it from one of their partners, it hadn’t yet been released. But from what I was given to read, it looked like a terrific product, and I started telling...

Interesting How College Summer Ball Temp vs Full Contracts Can Work Out

I posted this in a recent thread having more to do with Collegiate Summer Leagues leading to draft...thought it would be a beneficial story to others going down this path in the next few years: Coastal Plains HC calls son yesterday asking him to come down for last two weeks. Said he'd rotate him between 2B, SS, 3B and play every game. This was the Temp Contract that ended due to the Full Contract guys all showing up. Amazing how this can work out.
