Re: MLB team breakdowns
I am going to do one on the Chicago Cubs, just because I think that they will win it this year. The strength on this team is their pitching, most definitly, as long as they stay healthy. It looks like that the beginning rotation will have Zambrano, Prior, Maddux, Rusch, and Williams. Pretty solid there. That isnt factoring Wade Miller or Kerry Wood either. In the bullpen, they have some talented young lefties in Rich Hill and John Koronka and lots of strong righties as well. David Aardsma,...

Well, son made his first college pitching appearance on Sunday! What crazy emotions to go through. He’s been fortunate to be a starter in his HS career, so being a bullpen parent was a new experience. You’re sitting there cheering for the team and hoping everyone plays well and the pitching is solid …. but, you also know that if the starter does well your son may not get an appearance! It was like having the comic devil & angel sitting on your shoulder. One is telling you to cheer on the...

Re: Spending money wisely
A lot of people in St Louis saw it coming with Albert. (could be sour grapes) His numbers have been in a steady decrease for the last three years. The first few years of this contract wont be too bad for the Angels. The last few are going to be rough for them to swallow. I think the Mike Trout story and his season has taken a lot of talk away from Albert. The big discussion here now is whether Albert goes into the HOF as a Cardinal or an Angel, and whether his 10 year "public service"...

Re: Lee to the Phillies?
First, football is a different situation than baseball. Studies show in most cities there is a football fan base of guys who get together leaving their families behind and do their weekly thing during the football season. This study was looking at why there is more rowdyism at football than other events. Football also has the tradition of tailgating which brings many people into the stadium already legally drunk. And what about those mellow SC-UCLA fans a week ago. They made national news.

3rdgen, That's what I'm referring to, you and I can catch all the games at a decent hour on the MLB package. They're putting out some pretty darn good ball players though. RJM, I went to the "Big A" a handful of times in the late 70's & early 80's as a kid.
