Agree with Coach Gord! My son is one of those guys.. not blessed with great size or blazing speed, but he works hard to be the best he can be. If you are only watching the games and not the practices and the dynamics of the team, you are not seeing the whole picture.

Tough loss from UIC, they will be without there leader nelson gord for a few games. My sources have told me that the stock of uic flame thrower drops with every start...and that niu lefty joe piekarz has emerged as one of the best arms in the midwest...still look for uic to kick some tail in Miami! Re: Pitchers being abused

2bagger ·
Nice job Coach Gord I sure beleive you did the right thing with how you handle your pitchers and looking out for their health over bring home the trophy. With that being said I have seen less of the abuse in travel ball than some areas. I know I have posted on here in the past when high school sophmore goes 169 pitches in an outing or throws 14 innings in a couple days at the high school or legion level. Even watch college coaches that catch a kid all game and then throw him in releif for 3...

Re: High School workout/ or practice?? Whats legal these days???

NelsonGord ·
The sad part is that the HS Coaches are REQUIRING their kids to do more and more each year. It's a shame that I ask the kids that I coach all summer and fall (50-60 games) to get together for two hours a week, but they can't because they have to attend one of their 3 "optional" high school workouts which go on for 3 hours each day. Along the same lines I was working with a couple kids today who said that they have early morning lifting for baseball before school three times a week, and then...

JKen & TDad- I looked over that statement originally regarding the Seminoles, and after reading it and looking at the new screenname pretty much (think) I know who it is. The suprising part is that I don't necessarily think they are overtly "promoting" the Seminoles, in fact they decided not to play on my team this fall and next summer. Great family, great kid, just decided there was better opportunity elsewhere. The fact that this was taken as pure promotion is the problem with...

My son played a tourny with their 17U team in summer 2012, they were coming down to Fl, Ft Myers for PG tourny, I put his name out there, on this very site, we were contacted by the coach, he asked for some references from other coaches and checked his PG profile. Everything worked out, son pitched one game for them. They brought down a very competitive team. Coach was Nelson Gord, very good guy. Wouldn't hesitate to play for them again

Agreed lefthook. Our 2016 played with them this fall at underclass Evoshield in AZ and at FT Meyers. Highly competitive. Upperclass lost championship game in Iowa or would have taken a team to Jupiter. A couple of his kids played with other teams in Jupiter. Coach Gord runs a great program.

We have been aware of the Indians for a couple of years and my son (2016) was able to hook up with their fall program this year. Everything Nelson Gord does is geared towards getting players opportunities. After playing in 5-6 tournaments this fall, my son eagerly signed up for next summer.

I'm actually about 1.5 hours away. We looked into them because a friend of my son's has played for the Indians for a couple of years. I have also been aware of the Indians and Coach Gord through this website for a few years now and have always been impressed by his professionalism. Coach Gord played at Univ of IL-Chicago and had a professional stint. He knows the game and what it takes to get there. They ran a set of tryouts in August for both Fall2013 and Summer2014 so I assume they'll do...
