justin tyra is the kid from west. keeps them in games most of the time but he doesn't get alot of help. doesn't throw as hard as the dixon kid that was at west a couple of yrs ago and is at weatherford now. plays 3rd when he isn't pitching.
round 2 starts tuesday with poteet vs forney. at the end of 1 its:
poteet 6-0
red oak 5-1
forney 4-2
terrell 2-3
west 1-4
mabank 1-5
lancaster 0-4
poteet 6-0
red oak 5-1
forney 4-2
terrell 2-3
west 1-4
mabank 1-5
lancaster 0-4
several intresting races out there. looks like poteet will open against corsicana and red oak vs midlothian. terrell and forney face off 4/24 to see who gets midway and waxahachie. poteet vs corsicana will be a rematch of 2007 regional semifinalist.
What about Ennis I noticed they are tied with Corsicana ?
just a projection since ennis still has games against midway and midlothian. they are 4-6 and corsicana is 5-6.
exactly right Beast. on paper corsicana should have inside track with remaining games, but this game isn't played on paper. we need our bats in corsicana to be given a wakeup call before friday night. been a struggle all year for us. Tuesday against Midlo saw us start the game with 3 straight hits and that was the end of it. 1 more baserunner reached on a walk. looking to take care of waco high and cleburne. Cain and hachie are sandwiched in between them on saturday. ennis has midway, midlo, and university. exciting finish, even for a 4th place battle.
thats what makes it fun ctown. 4th place in 16-4A wins alot of other districts and gets you ready for the playoffs.
who's better Forney or Terrell
i think its a toss-up. forney has the tradition but i think terrell has the better pitching. the kid that pitched against us tuesday threw one heck of a game. i think they will throw jackson against forney and he threw 100+ pitches on monday to beat red oak. this game is to avoid midway and get waxahachie.
if corsicana and ennis end up tied for 4th and they split with each other head to head, what is used to decide the playoff representative?
Panther
My opinion would be Forney is better.

Sometimes it is written into your district rules at the begining of the year. In the past I have seen it several different ways. 1) A playoff game. 2) A coin flip. 3) Head to Head. 4) Runs scored. 5) Runs allowed. 5) Most hot dogs sold at the concession stand. Just kidding about that one. Slow day around here.

Most of the time head to head is first. After that it is a coin flip only if both coaches agree to a coin flip. Otherwise it is a one game playoff.

there will be a one game playoff if they are tied since the head to head is split

thanks panthers2009, son came home and gave me the scenario and schedule after swine flu changes were announced. when has your midway-waxahachie game been rescheduled for?
Heard a vicious rumor that Boxley at Forney was fired. Anyone else heard that? Any details?
haven't heard anything about it. can't imagine they would fire him after the way they finished last season and taking second in district this year. would really have to be something drastic.
Boxley did not get fired, he resigned. There are some serious health issues with some of his family in the Houston area that he is needing to be close to and he is leaving the Forney program this week.

Game has been rescheduled for May 14 at Midway
Has anyone heard a score in the Forney/Red Oak game?

red oak 1
forney 0
midway vs waxahachie is sat 5/9/09 at 2 pm. should be a good one
yea it should be a good game. catcher and i thought we were going to get to come watch this game, but with the schedule revisions we play cleburne at the same time. from our games with both you guys, it should be fun to watch. you guys seem to be more solid throughout the lineup. Good luck.
yeah but they have a pretty good dang pitcher that makes a huge difference
I saw the last game. Waco pitched around Cain and Harrison and won. Waco is not heavy on pitching but they have always hit the ball. A 5-4 win at Waxahachie. The Indians do not have a great supporting offensive cast for Cain.
BTW that is the book on how to play them.
thats true, but we saw him get rattled against us before the uil suspension of games. did not have his best stuff( scouts left early) coupled with a few errors, passed balls, slow rollers, hit batters, and general sloppiness from his defense. our guys played their hearts out but surrendered the lead in the bottom of the 6th. he was still very impressive! many of our hitters along with his catcher were just overmatched by him. to watch the play of him and your cf is exciting stuff.
pretty good game on sat. midway 6- wax 0. midway's pitcher threw a no hitter possible one hitter depends who you ask. anyways cain did not have his normal stuff almost looks like a tired arm or he is hurting. still pretty dang good. special kid.
I have heard that Cains arm is hurting. They tend to throw him too much and have over the years from team top team. Last season he threw against HP twice in 4 days. Not good, considering he never comes out and plays the field.
Cain's arm hurting may bode well for Forney, but I would rather Forney win with his arm well. We'll see.
How is Forney doing since their coach was let go? He always did a good job with his teams. Can they over come that distraction?
cain's arm always seems to be hurting this time of the year, but i still wouldn't want to face him in a one game series with the next round on the line. just ask HP about last season when cain was hurting so bad they didn't know if he would even DH.
They've only had one game and lost to Red Oak 1-0. They aren't doing too badly, but the players and the parents are not happy about Boxley being gone.
Any update on who the new Forney coach will be?
only rumors so far but we played in a tournament at navarro this weekend and the name that coming up was tom gladney from waco midway. if that is true it would be a really nice pick up for forney.
Being a fan of Red Oak, I must brag on our baseball team for next year. The pitching should be even better than it was this year as they will have seniors Brent Fletcher,Tanner Milke, juniors Robert Ells, Garett "Red" Thomas, and possibly another lefty. Finishing off the rotation should be two very good upcoming sophmores, (not sure of first names) McMillion and Milke. Although they should be somewhat young having to replace several seniors they should be very good in the on offense/defense. With this years "New Comer of the Year" Robert Ells returning in left along with either McMillion or Justin (Macormic?) in center. They also get Travis Wallis back in right. The infield will be very young with the exception of first base and catcher. Should a very exciting next few years for Red Oak!! How does Poteet, Forney, Terrell and West Mesquite look for next year? Anyone?
next year should be a real adventure for poteet. we won't even come close to replacing brett doe's glove at short or his bat. our only returning infielder will be at 1st and we will have our third different centerfielder in three years. we loose one lefty pitcher and our pitching wasn't as strong as we thought it would be this year. we will also loose our second class to the new sunnyvale high school. looks like the days of reloading are over at poteet. should make the playoffs but probably second or third in 15-4A.
Go Pirates
Our problems were solved yesterday. We have two new move-ins from the Dominican Republic. They are twins. One is right handed and the other is left handed. One is 6'3" 215 and the other is 6'5" 220. One plays shortstop and the other one plays centerfield. And they both pitch. And check this out they are only sophomores. Oh yeah they are switch hitters also. I looked them up on Perfect Game Latin America. They both ran a 6.5 60 at the 2008 Latin America Showcase in September. The shortstop threw 93 across the infield and the centerfielder threw 95 from the outfield. On the mound they both touched 96 with outstanding 12/6 curve balls and an awesome change up. Also it said they both can hit for power. Ain't that great. They moved in just down the street from me. I think they have a couple of more brothers a little younger. We might make the playoffs again next year from the 4th spot.

one other that got limited playing time and one that was used mostly as a defensive replacement late in games.
Blunt and Griffin will win 16-20 games on the bump by themelves. That is a pretty salty lefty/right combo to throw at people in district.
