2022 got an email from an 18U team several states away requesting he fly in for a workout in a few weeks for their summer of 2022 18U team.  The email was quite lengthy describing their success, the involvement of several active MLB coaches and the access to them as resources throughout the year.  It all sounds like a sales pitch until the email went on to explain that the team is fully funded and there is no cost.  Including travel, meals, transportation, etc…. They are even offering to cover all expenses to travel to the tryout.  Airfare, pick him at the airport, hotel, meals, everything.

Anybody here ever heard of this for 18U summer ball.  I looked up the PG and PBR tourneys they talked about in their email and they were there and performed as described.  Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this….

I think as much as anything I was surprised about the emphasis on 18u summer ball.  We hadn’t even thought about summer after senior year as far as travel ball.

The expenses paid travel to try out was a bit of a surprise as well. I don’t see 2022 signing up for this, it was just interesting on a lot of levels and so off our radar.  Was curious is anyone here had any input on 18u ball in general.

The moving of the draft date has caused a new stir in the early summer for 18U for draft eligible players.  I know of a few teams that are starting up and it may be something new coming.  Some are suggesting that it may be only a few top teams that will play each other on a regular schedule maybe even different main fields.
