2011 commits - start the list

No real significance to July 1 in this context.

Why not? Sure, lots of 2011s have verballed - but there are thousands of 2011s heading to E Cobb, if they are not already there, hoping that conversations happen in the next 15-30 days.

If it's not significant does that mean that every viable 2011 has already committed?

July 1 is a trigger date for a few more modes of contact, but it does not signify an imminent rush of guys making commitments.

I do think you'll see things pick up from here through October, but that's just because programs will be trying to nail down their early signs as the deadline approaches for that. There's no particular significance to July 1 except that it's one day closer to the deadline than June 30.

Put Joseph Vanderplas at the top of the list, he is having a big summer. As a lefty the attraction is even greater. Look for an ACC school to take him. Nice pick up for Freeman at Fairfax coming back to his old school.

He pitches for the NVTBL Stars 17u. He pitched the first four innings yesterday afternoon in a 2-0 win over Chet Lemons Juice at the East Cobb Complex. The Stars moved into the WWBA 18u sweet 16 with a win this morning.

Great team - great kids.

The NVTBL Stars lost to the ABD Bulldogs from California this evening by a score of 2 - 0. It was a pretty good run and fun while it lasted

Josh Gardiner has committed to Radford.

Josh was first team All State (AA) at Eastern View (Culpeper) this year, and is the first member of the Virginia Cardinals to make a college commitment.

Pilotonline shows Josh Mason, Bishop Sullivan, as having committed to William and Mary.

Interesting development:

PG shows 6 UVA commitments and 3 VT commitments in the 2011 class thus far.

None are from Virginia.

Though PG doesn't have Abel listed yet.

Even accounting for him, what do you make of this?

My guess is it's actually the opposite. Both programs are strong enough to recruit nationally, and so they do.

Did I miss it in the thread somewhere, or have Veeder and Frezza from PVI not committed?

I don't know Frezza but am pretty sure Lansing has not committed.

According to "sources" (haha) Veeder has visited St. Joe's and Army, and has offers from others...soon to make a decision. Frezza hurt all last season and rehabing this summer has to be slowing the process. If he gets back to 90+, he'll be fine.

Gary LeClair, OF from The Steward School and of the Virginia Cardinals, has chosen VMI from among 4 offers he was considering! Congratulations to Gary!

I hope Frezza comes back in good form. Always hate to see injury stand between a young man and his dreams.
