Another 2012 Jefferson Forest outfielder has committed to Randolph Macon: Mikey Wallman.
Macon sure has gotten some players in this 2012 class. They are looking to be very good in these coming years.
Dylan Gonzales, RHP/OF from Tucker High School, and the Tidewater Orioles, has committed to Bridgewater College.
Orioles recently had sophomore, Kyle McPherson of Western Branch commit to Georgia Tech!
Tidewater Orioles is a big time travel program!

FWIW, this is how I would do it: use FIND, go to Advanced Find, search on Macon (or Randolph-Macon), select all sections of the site for search, put in a date range starting with 1/1/2011, then manually count the names.
On the other hand, VirginiaPreps keeps track of commits from VA.
This is what VA Preps shows:
Mitch Keeler Atlee 2012 C Randolph-Macon
Daniel Byrd Cosby 2012 C/P/OF Randolph Macon
Nick Williamson Monacan 2012 OF/RHP Randolph Macon
Tanner Phillips Powhatan2012 RHP Randolph Macon
Hunter Wilkinson Patrick Henry (Ashland) 2012 OF/RHP//1B Randolph Macon
I also know that SS Alex Hall (Northumberland) is headed there as well.

thank you (all) for the insight..but now confused a little. based on this site and others there are at least 10/15 or more to rmc. the va prep referenced above had 5 plus this one. do they need that many freshman or am i missing something? how does the "commit" thing work?
Nothing is guaranteed. Ever. Anywhere. Others can go into difference between D1, 2, 3, etc.
But bottom line, at any level, a coach wants to win. If he thinks he can win by bringing in 30 freshman then that is what he will do.
If you hit you play. If you get outs you play. If not you are gone. Doesn't matter what you did last year.
With regards to RMC, I would look for them to stay at or near the top of the ODAC for a while. With each years recruiting class being better then the one before. If you don't know why, go check out their facility, walk around campus, check out their academic reputation, speak with their coaching staff.
Some of the names listed above plus several more that are in the decision making process will have a chance to be impact guys there.

Correction ...
Scott Halsey going to CNU from what I was told from a D3 asst. coach.

I agree with Rich that nothing is guaranteed.
My son will go to a D3 school next year. What we considered as "committing" was the coach saying that he had a Spring roster spot and our son telling him that he would attend (and informing all of the other schools that he had made his decision). At this point, we (and the coach) are counting on everyone honoring their word.
Personally, I don't consider it as a "commitment" unless there has been a roster spot offered (something which I asked of all three commits to RMC from our high school).
I know that there are probably other views on what is a commitment and there is a whole other world of NLIs with D2s and D3s.
Just my two cents.

"Nothing is ever guaranteed" is an overstatement.
Anyone who signs an NLI is guaranteed their money for their freshman year at least, and an NLI can be voided only if the player does something wrong like committing a crime or flunking his senior year HS classes.
Anyone getting money is a "counter" towards the team's maximum of 35 spring roster spots. If a coach really loses faith in a player, he can cut him, but then the coach can only carry 34 guys. So, it would be very, very rare for someone with an NLI not to be on the roster for spring of their freshman year.
D3 differs because there are no NLI's signed. Coaches vary greatly as to whether they recruit only to need, or whether they over recruit and then hold a large tryout in the fall. Players should actively discuss with the coaches which situation is being offered to them. Then, they should also research whether what they're being told meshes with what they can discern has actually happened in recent years. As Reagan once said, "Trust, but verify."
At the D1 level, there are non-scholarship players. These "walk-ons" may be recruited, or they may just show up and do well at a tryout. While no team can give scholarship money to more than 27 guys, and therefore you can have up to 8 walk-ons, the reality is that there are often more than 8. And if your team has more than 35 guys in the fall, when the axe falls it will fall only on those walk-ons.

Good point Midlo. True.
But I guess I was speaking about A) getting a jersey & B) actually playing.
You and know plenty of players getting $0.00 that not only have jerseys but are major contributors.
And, you and I both know plenty of players getting lots of cash that never ever and will never ever see the field.

Congratulations to Bobby Barefoot, Western Branch outfielder, who has committed to play baseball at Norfolk State University.
Coach Hedrick at RMC is a true gem. If you like baseball, you love Ray Hedrick. Players who just live, breath, and sleep baseball will just plain like the guy, and now that they have a nice new facility, RMC will get a lot of talent from the Richmond area that otherwise might have gone out of state, or to other state DIII powers such as CNU.
Not exactly the topic but Virginia does indeed have a lot of truly good D III baseball programs with very nice facilities, and CNU and RMC would be among the top 5 on anyone's list. A lot of good baseball is played at the Virginia D III's.

Colton Konvicka, Benedictine CF and a member of the Virginia Cardinals, has committed to Longwood.
Those who have seen Colton know that while he is athletic to play any number of positions, he is probably the premier defensive outfielder in our area. Colton repeatedly uses his speed and athleticism to rob gap hits with leaping or diving catches that only he could even attempt. Colton is also a fleet offensive player who, once aboard, can steal at will and disrupt a game.
Congrats to Colton! And BTW, that makes the Cardinals 13 for 13 for our class of 2012. More on that separately.

Congrats to Greenbrier Christian RHP, Nick Jessee, on his commitment to Old Dominion.
I've had the privilege of coaching Nick since he was 9. Things have really clicked for Nick the past year or so. He will be a low to mid 90's guy when he leaves ODU.
Congrats to Nick and his wonderful family.
