You've done a really nice job trolling this thread, I'll give credit where credit is due. This is a ridiculous comment.

JH do you know Coach Brown?

Whether I know him or not does not make you calling him a tool any less ridiculous or more mature. Are you trying to make a point?

There isn't much separating Vanderbilt from Virginia, but Vanderbilt played better when it mattered.  Vandy gets the prize, and we have to listen to next years announcers remind us of the last ACC NCAA baseball champion.    UVA had their chances (twice)with bases loaded and 1 out.....nothing to show for it.  I was thinking sac fly, but that was wishful thinking   Vegas oddsmakers knew what they were doing when they set UVA to 7-2 odds and Vandy to 9-2 odds.

Hopefully, I can catch up on my sleep tonight.   I'm very tired.  I put my nasal saline spray into my eyes thinking they were my eye moisturizing drops.  Not good, and don't try that at home.

Here is a great article from BA on the series and individuals. What I find so interesting is that so many kids waited for so long for their opportunity and when given the chance they come through. Coach Corbin is even thanking the parents in this article in supporting their kids and program when they were not playing. Really good read and especially for incoming freshmen (in college or HS) about having patience and working and waiting for your opportunity.

Congrats to Vandy (and UVA) on a great series.

I still think UVA was the better team. They lost that series in game 1 when they lost a game they totally dominated except for one inning. Outhitting your opponent 16-5 and losing well that says it all. I am not taking anything away from Vandy. They earned it and are the NC's. Golfball's son was outstanding. I love his approach and his swing. He's a gamer and very talented and I enjoyed watching him play. Both of these teams are going to be very good once again next season.

Having a player that played ACC, we were rooting for UVA, as the ACC badly needs a championship in baseball.

However, Vandy is one of those stories that you have to tip your hat too.

Besides Corbin is a former ACC coach, so that works for me also.

Congratulations to both teams A great championship series.

Coach May.  I agree 100%

Also, I think Vandy dodged a bullet when they unintentionally (? )hit golfball's son with a breaking pitch in the 8th, 1 out, with runners on 2nd and 3rd.  No doubt in my mind that was UVA's best chance as he had been red hot in the whole Series.   The baseball Gods work in mysterious ways.

To me, the team which made the plays at the time they needed to be made won. That is the best "team."  From the 3 games, I think UVA may have had, overall, better talent 1-9 in the order.  For 2014, they were not the best "team" in my opinion.

Geez, I just re-read this and it certainly comes of harsh which was not my intention.

I should have just left it that I think this year, Vanderbilt played the best when it mattered and is the best team, and I was really impressed by UVA, really impressed.

Kyle Peterson is as good as it gets.  For me, he's the right mix of impeccable baseball knowledge, dry humor, and behind the scenes info on teams/players/NCAA.  He watches the games unfold and reacts accordingly, as opposed to so many analysts who lock into pat story lines and then doggedly stick to them no matter what.

I agree with the broadcasts, excellent. They did the DIII world series two weeks before and I really enjoyed their professionalism and knowledge, Even at the DIII level they knew the players, background, successes, and recent history. Great stuff.

Time to go into college baseball withdrawals.....

Wait there is summer ball.

Just got back from vacation yesterday. I spent the middle of my vacation time in Omaha. Son played in a tournament there from 24-26th and part of the deal was tickets to CWS. We got the opportunity to see all 3 championship games. What a great atmosphere. I do agree with many that some balls that were crushed went nowhere but then the one hit Wednesday night was even more impressive.  The true fans for each team were fun to listen too and i felt for them every time something didn't go right but enjoyed the reaction for the team that did.

We went early the first 2 nights and watching BP and warm ups generally. That was impressive.

The one thing you could not see on TV (I am told) was the Vandy players not in the game doing thier inbetween inning stretching and fun antics on the field (like bowling or football kickoff). My thought was what a great program to play for that they get to have that fun, it keeps them involved and there is some sense of use for it because they also stretch in case they are needed.

WE met long time goers that made the trip every year, local fans that came to 6-9 games, etc. All willing to tell stories and explain the aura of the CWS in Omaha.

The pitching was great for most part, a few timely hits, some really good defensive plays and overall 3 really good games between 2 very talented teams.

12 hours one way to get there was really really long. On the way there, my son spent time watching netflix on my tablet, texting his GF, napping, driving a bit, answering my thoguht out questions with "yes, "no" "i don't know" or any other incredibly short not thought out answer you can think of. On the way home, 12 hours of his hopes and dreams of being there playing in CWS someday, thoughts on college both as  school and baseball. We relived the CWS games, his tournament out there (they won it), his summer ball team, his HS years. It was our last away trip in summer ball ever. It was a great place to end the part of the journey.

I went to the CWS with my son's team 2 years ago.  We were also there for the championship series (only 2 games).  The thing that amazed me the most is that everybody is smiling.  The players (all very approachable as they are the stars of the shows), umpires (road a hotel shuttle with a couple), Omahaians, baseball fans young and old.  The event is a great culmination of the season and for many, many a lifetime goal reached.

I can't wait to go back again - hopefully watching my son (HS 2017) play.

It took about a week, but the disappointment of the loss in the final to Vanderbilt is starting to wear off a bit. We spent 12 days out in Omaha and had a great time. The people in Omaha are unbelievably friendly and made the time there a great experience. Came back with a ton of t-shirts and memories for a lifetime. I am sitting on Cape Cod now and watched my son play his first game here last night. Best of luck to all your sons. Go Hoos!

Your son and his family experienced something very few get to do. The people of Omaha made our trip. Midwest folks are the best!
Your sons journey similar to ours ,Omaha then the cape.
Son played for Falmouth. We still keep in touch with his host family.  New Englanders are awesome to.
Enjoy the ride!
