Well that is your coach who got that wrong. That information was already turned in when Irving called to turn in game summary? He had 2 HR's in my book! Congrats to Baker!]

and BTW if anyone reads the DMN stats they have our Irving game wrong, they gave the HR to T. Baker instead of M. Pitts and the win to one of our injured players and not my son, so much for a scrapbook memory. Frown
swac i'm not claiming that seguin is going to win state or even win there district for that matter but I don't think he should sit there and act as if they weren't trying to win that was how his post came across as if North can just turn it on and off whether or not they want to play...if that is the case then they won't be playing to far into may thats all I was saying.
Congrats goes to Pitts on the HR's not Baker.... if not for a passed ball/run scored he would have had a Grand Slam then the 2 run HR.

Wished I had seen the B.Bleaven HR's heard one was over the scoreboard. He is a very talented player and the Irving team will be a top team in the area again this year. The HR that Collins (Irving) hit took out a truck window in the parking lot.... hope they have good insurance Frown

I also heard about the not so close game today between McKinney North and Arlington Seguin this morning and to "Time to step up", Rockwall played in the Tyler tourny this weekend and went 3-1.

Post edited by moderator. Congrats, Rock!

P.S.- minescatcher18 is right about McKinney North. They can't just say oh well it was two jv pitchers thats why we lost. No, if yall are so good why would you even want to put yourself in a position to lose. Just what i think

i would like to compliment the hebron and frisco players and coaches. we (lamar) played you guys (you guys played, we just showed up) over the weekend. i was in the stands watching the frisco game when some of the hebron players came up to watch. i asked them a few questions and they were the nicest, most polite bunch of boys i've been around in quite some time.

they play a heck of a ball game as well.

good job coaches and parents.

I know Coach Stone will appreciate hearing that, as he stresses responsibility, character and respect as much as moving the runners over and hitting the cutoff man. I'm quite sure he isn't the only coach to do so at the high school level, either, but in the four years I've known him he's one of the most respectful individuals I've ever met and his message gets to the players. By the way, you've got some mashers on that Lamar team, and some outstanding players. Younger Hawk son plays on same summer team with Kyle A., and when Kyle was on the mound and hit him in the back with a slow curveball that got away, it was fun to see both of them smile a little bit.

JL,

I believe Wylie won the Tourney.. DA told me it was 6-0 when he left.

We got our rear ends handed to us by Allen.. We just couldn't get anyone out in the 1st. To thier credit, they hit a lot of balls hard and up the middle.
I heard ZL got his first BOMB the other night.. Tell him congrats..Also tell the other JL and ML hey..

minescatcher18 get off your soap box. You are doing exactly what you are accusing Old Pitcher of doing. I would agree if they pitch Appleby or Lykie that team would eat dust. His is not playing down the lost just providing the board with additional infoirmation. Lets see where both Arlington Seguin and Mckinney North is this June.

SWAC,

Considering that you can have a direct impact on games, it concerns me as the parent of an opposing player in McKinney North's district (West of McKinney) that you may have a bias towards this team.

Intangibles I don't know who you are but apparently you know me. I have been involved in the baseball community for many years and I have never had my integrity questioned by anyone opposing coaches, players or parents. And for you to suggest such well.................me even replying to your comments serve no real purpose. I was only implying that with those two guys on the mound they are a tough team to handle, even a number of 5A teams. There are a number of very good teams in that district and it will be a dog fight to the end. A very good team may be left out of the playoffs.

When my integrity is questioned that offends me.

Minescatcher18 I understand now where you are coming from; please accept my apology. I agree teams can't turn it on and turn it off when they please.

Members this is my last post on this board. However, I'll continue to read the wonderful and informative comments by you all. There are some great fans on this board.

Friends -- before I step up on the soapbox, I want to make it clear that I am not directing this post in any one direction....

In light of the events of this past weekend and the fact that the entire country is watching the Texas Forum, I would like to challenge us all to consider how fortunate we are as parents and fans. Despite the unique opportunities presented by "Mother Nature", most of us were able to collect special memories as we watched our kids play. As I read the recaps, there were numerous successes....and perhaps a few minor disappointments. A week from now, we won't really care much about this weekend -- because we'll be watching it all over again. Smile

Concerning specific discussions here, I encourage you all to give people the benefit of the doubt, rather than to assume negativity. Let's remember the main purpose of the message board -- and lift one another up, while being senstive to the fact that there is a loss for every win. If you're tempted to be negative.....(and it happens to me frequently).....ask youself if good can come from your comments.

I love seeing the success of our posters' sons -- it's awesome. But let's keep it all in perspective. We all know that baseball is a strange game and that line-scores reveal a very small picture of each contest. For instance....yes, PantherSon earned a mound win this weekend....but the fact is, he entered the game behind 10-7 and his team scored 4 runs while he was the pitcher of record. He threw 1.1 Smile <-- similar to the guy that throws 6.2 with no decision. His win was not a big deal, other than it was a positive step for his team.

Take pride in your players and his team ---- and continue to report ---- but also hug your son and enjoy this short phase of life. I'm sure many of you understand why I feel reflective today.....and why I want us all to put our best feet forward as those from around the country enter our "space".

All I can say is WOW!

.......and you say it well!

This was mutually agreed upon by the tournament director and the three teams involved about 20 minutes before the first game was scheduled to start.

When you have a 50 MPH wind blowing directly into the pitchers face along with the dust, and the outfield is playing up against the fence, they felt playing the games would provide no benefits to anyone and could actually be dangerous.
Good call in my opinion.

Well we pulled the tarp off the field Saturday morning just in time to have the sky fall out on the field and flood it - tournament cancelled.

Still, we got in three games last week - Pine Tree is 3-0. Our pitching so far: 1 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 4BB, 33 K's. We have scored 31 runs.

The three starting pitchers are throwing well - Brian Shore, Zane Hendon, and Jeff Thompson. The relievers are doing just as well - Jarod Roundsavall, Ryan McAfee, and Jack Lindwall.

The team will be in the Oil Belt (Kilgore) tournament this week and then finish up our tournament schedule with the McKinney Spring Spectacular tournament next week.

And I think the delete key should be used a little more liberally the next few days

Thanks guys, but I honestly think the dirt was in the hitters' eyes. Wink

PD, thanks for putting things into perspective...I have been upset about this since it happened and I don't know this family personally. When we found out he passed during our second game at Keller HS yesterday, it floored us, but folks there were able to put baseball where it should be and felt very grateful that their kids would be safe in their beds that night.

Scores and stats took the night off, as it should be...

Your eyesight, maybe, but not your integrity... Big Grin
[Just kidding! I have no idea whether you have ever called one of Texan Son's games or not, since I don't know your identity.]

Don't let one guy run you off SWAC. Hang around and keep contibuting.
Mines............

I apologize to you if it sounded like I was downplaying your brothers teams win against McKinney North. That was not my intention. I was merely stating that if North had pitched our varsity pitchers, the outcome would not have been 20-6. It may have been 10-6. Your brother did a fine job. We played 4 games in the tournament and played a total of 24 innings. Varsity pitchers pitched 11 1/3 innings and JV pitchers pitched 12 2/3 innings overall.

I think Coach Gatewoods philosophy was to get our younger guys some pitching time. He knows what the varsity guys can do already.

Our #1 Appleby threw 3 1/3 innings and our #2 Lackie didn't throw a single pitch in the tournament.

Congratulations to Arlington Seguin for their efforts against us. They did a great job.
mom,

I don't know about that, but I did feel bad that he took it like that. Seguin had some real talent on the field without a doubt and the pitcher did a great job keeping us off balance. My hats off to him for doing such a great job.

Most HS teams aren't going to win many games only scoring 6 runs, so it really didn't matter how many runs they scored against us to be honest.

How did Seguin do in the game after they beat us?
