Tried this in the Mottos thread but not the right place. The good news is that the Mottos are being added to.

In this one, consider adding baseball terms you come across routinely, and perhaps of more interest non routinely, and don't hesitate to ask if you don't know what one means!

List all the baseball terms you can think of.

Like:

Frozen Rope
Screwball
Knuckler
Dish
Blue
Tools of Ignorance

What do you have?

What is Doses are in?

I'm assuming Uncle Charlie is a curveball?

What is 31?

"31" used for reminding the players to watch for the fake 3rd to 1st move
Keep em coming!

What is Doses are in? Not sure if the spelling is right but it means the same as taking one for the team (HBP)

Can't believe I've atually got one that's not been posted...

blue darter
blue dotter (had a dad on a team once that always said "dotter"...so, I always thought that was the proper term...until I learned better later...term he used for throwing the batter a fastball...which he also used the term wrong)

FYI: The term "blue darter" is a baseball term referring to a low line drive that "speeds viciously through the air, as though it were propelled by a blue gas flame." The term came to be associated with the line drives hit by Shoeless Joe Jackson and was popularized by ballplayer and sportscaster Dizzy Dean. A "blue darter" is also a Midwestern and Southern colloquialism for either a fast hawk or a quick snake darting through a bush.
