Thanks for the write up!
Had to leave town and miss the last two games.
Any team can win in the Beach district the way some of these pitchers are throwing!
Sandifer had Kellam on the ropes and Crouse battled Lemasters all the way. Sounds like Salem went toe to toe with Ocean Lakes with great pitching too..
Tuesday should be interesting.

Cox 6, Princess Anne 1 in 9 innings.
Great game to watch if your weren’t rooting for a particular team. Lemaster was on the mound for PA and Grayson Crouse was on the mound for Cox. Neither team had a base runner until Marc Joe singled up the middle for PA in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The next PA batter, though, hit into a double play, and the third batter of the inning struck out to end any threat.
PA managed to get a runner to 2nd base in the 4th. After Crouse struck out the first two batters of the inning, he walked Greg Tomchick on a full count. Tomchick advanced on a WP so Cameron Begley was issued the intentional walk. Crouse struck out the next batter to end any threat.
After Jordan Fairbanks reached on an E4 in the bottom of the 5th inning, Marc Joe had the FIRST HIT of the game. Joe was brought home by Hunter Davis’ subsequent single for the first scoring in the game and PA's only run of the game.
Cox did not record its first hit until the top of the 6th. With one out, Zack Brown, batting in the 8-hole, tripled to the right center field. Crouse singled with 2 outs to bring Brown home and tie the game.
Cox threatened to break the tie in the top of the 7th. Lemaster struck out the first batter of the inning but then gave up a double to Jordan Goldwag. After striking out the next batter, Lemaster walked Mike Mumetian. With a double steal, Cox had the go ahead run at 3rd with a potential insurance run standing on second. And that is where Lemaster left them by striking out the next batter.
Princess Anne threatened in the bottom of the 7th. The first batter of the PA half of the inning, Fairbanks, walked but thrown out at 2nd on Joe’s FC. Owen flew out and Allie Satoski walked with 2 outs. With the potential winning run on 2nd, Hunter Davis hit a long fly ball which the right fielder (McCabe?) caught in a great catch to save the game.
Into extra innings. Top 8. With 1 out, Shane Spanitz singled up the middle, stole 2nd and reached 3rd on a wild pitch. Lemaster, still on the mound and nearing the century mark in his pitch count, struck out the next 2 batters to end the Cox threat. Princess Anne answered with its own threat in the bottom of the 8th. With 2 outs, Begley doubled and J.R. Mc Coy walked. Crouse also now had exceeded the century mark in pitch count and was relieved by Jordan Goldwag. Fairbanks then reached on an error to load the bases. Unfortunately for PA, Joe hit the ball to the pitcher when he attempted to check his swing and the inning was ended on a 1-3 putout.
Now to the top of the 9th. The wheels fell off for PA. Lemaster, obviously tiring, hit Larry McCabe, the first Cox batter of the inning. Goldwag sac bunted McCabe to second. Devon Coates (sp?) then reached on an error by the third baseman and Mumetian walked to load the bases. So, with one out and bases loaded, freshman Tommy McKee enters the game to pinch hit. With a 1-2 count, McKee hit the ball over third to bring home the go-ahead run. Cox was not done, though. Brown reached on an error by the third baseman which brought in another run to make the score 3-1. Spanitz then singled up the middle to bring home 2 more runs which raised Cox’s tally to 6. After approximately 117 pitches, Lemaster was relieved, Tomchick took the mound and struck out the next 2 batters to end the inning but the damage had been done. Owen led off the bottom of the 9th with a single, even managing to reach 3rd, but PA failed to score any more runs.
Notables:
Cox: 6 hits. Spanitz was only Cox player with multiple hits (2).
PA: 5 hits. Joe was the only PA player with multiple hits (2).
Lemaster struck out 13 batters in 8 1/3 innings.
